Help with Marty Friedman style....

Hello everyone.....my two favorite guitar players are John Petrucci and Marty Friedman.I want to develop a style similar to marty friedman.Can any of you tell me what kind of scales/concepts does he use?Do his instructional products rock?

Funny - I was watching one of MF's old instructional vids on the weekend (in the background) while I was doing some work - I havent watched it for a while! I'll probably have to watch it again to remember more stuff but he was emphasising the importance of knowing the chord sequences of the song and being able to solo melodically over them - he didnt really rate scales for basing solos on - and made up his own scales by what sounded right to him - didnt like blues either but said every one should know some! He might have changed his opinion since this video - it was pretty good but I prefer other guitarists - saying that though there is always something to learn from someone! Me - I like country rock!
