I shall forward the compliments to the pickup maker :D

Anywho, capelo, not much to it unfortunately. It's already done and gone at this point unfortunately.

The process is LITERALLY this, nothing exciting at all.

Since you guys wouldn't let me put red on the top... I decided to put some color on the back a bit. Think "blood red metallic" :p

After first coat

after 3rd coat I removed the tape. Gotta clean off the top, and scrape some of the sides. Pretty close to clear coat stage, probably be done by Wednesday.

the color is actual incredibly dark unless you shine a flashlight on it (or direct halogen lights lol). This is more what it will look like in "normal" light.

Love it or hate it, its done :) I personally enjoy deep, dark reds myself.

That is awesome. This thread has caused a lot of grief with my wife. She wants to spend more time with me, without guitars. The nerve of her.........

You asked, lol. For the record I actually love the idea of recessed holes. Like I said in a way earlier post, make this your own and who cares what anyone thinks. I would love to find a beater Axis to do the same. As far as neck plates I prefer the days when the Axis had the recessed neck plate as I don't like to feel anything there or rather I like consistency in texture. Though the current way they do the neck plate isn't a big deal either. I guess that's why I like either an all maple or all rosewood neck and can't stand maple with a rosewood board... Lol, can't wait to see the finished product

Mario, no... I'm assuming that there will be no plate just like the Wolfgang.

Lol, it took me a minute to realize he had done that as well and then why. But it makes total sense especially if talking all the EBMM signatures off of the guitar. It's really a brilliant solution.

This project is delayed for the forseeable future...

Mixed up my 80$ PPG, and 40$ PPG hardener. Spent time mixing it beautifuly, poured and measured to a high degree of accuracy. Took time, placed my paint stick into the neck pocket, screwed it in with 3 over sized screws. Placed it on the paint rack, started my rinky dink fume extractor. Started the compressor, poured paint into the gun.

Started painting. Laying on pretty nicely. Got about half way up the edges up to the neck pocket, and then...

The 3/4" birch plywood stick, almost 2 and a half inches wide... SNAPS. The guitar drops to the floor.

I stood there kinda staring at it for a minute, and then walked away to have cigarette. Took a pretty good chunk out of the back of the body. Luckily the top is ok, else I'd have just lost my mind. So... basically I get to start over! -.-

Sorry guys.

Wow! That absolutley blows! You will fill the chunk and repaint the back and start over, every great project has its setbacks.
