Looks like another piece of ply for the neck mount. Go solid wood this time around.

In most cases, plywood is stronger than a single, solid piece of wood. The piece I used before must have been cracked to bbegin with. This one I went over with scrutiny before using it :)

Clear coated the top today. Gonna do another coat tomorrow, and should be wet sanding and buffing Saturday.

Wicked! My 25th is one of my favorite guitars and besides the versatility factor they are just so damn comfortable to play. I really am puzzled why this guitar hasn't taken off and become a much more popular model, though I know a lot of guys wished it was offered in more EBMM style finishes, then the two most basic chocolate and vanilla finishes there are -Black and White.I am not implying a whole Spalted Maple run, but that top looks bad a## on that guitar. I honestly can't think of another artist who has more sigs/ finishes (I think he passed Baskin and Robins a few years ago) then Petrucci.I saw Sterling state his sig is like the second or third best selling sig out there, so it is a no brainer to keep players happy with as many models and finishes available as possible, but maybe next year a few new finishes for the Reflex may just be what the guitar needs.

WOW!!! I have a huge board of 1 1/2"+ spalted in my wood collection that I hope creates axes half as hot as this one...

If there was a (non SS) koa axis I would DEFINITELY own it in a heartbeat lol
This one with a koa top basically...

Hey Bob:

Yeah, that's an interesting question: Why hasn't EBMM done a Koa top Axis? Looks like you'll have to make one!
