Dizzy,

To me the neck feels as though it has a profile the same as the JP6. I am not a huge fan of painted necks but this one is actually very nice; it has a nice solid grip so your hand doesn't seem to slip around as much as on other finished necks, like Les Pauls. I do play Les Pauls and BC Richs which both have painted necks so it's not a huge issue for me.

Sorry about the delay in the case pics. If I can get it outside between the afternoon storms in MD I will take some.

I have to say that I love this guitar and it is one of the finest instruments I have ever played. The only sad thing is that I have to pay for it and it looks like the DD JP6 I acquired recently will have to be sold to satisfy my bank manager (if anyone is interested please PM me since I do not want to turn this into a for sale thread).

My Satch and ESP both have lacquered necks, but I love the feel of my EBMM's.

I have about 2 days to decide on going with the LE JP, or changing to a B.Blueburst F-1.

The new axe is going to have a hard time getting as much love as my Silo, so I need to choose the right one!

Are inlays optional on the F-1's ??

Thanks for the question. It is the same guitar but one was taken outside in the sun and one inside under regular incadensent light. If you look at the more transparent areas of the burst it does look somewhat purple/brown. It is actually gorgeous. I know nothing about how EBMM creates the blackburst but I believe that most blackburst finishes start with an aniline dye on the wood to pop the figure. For example, some dark cherry burst finishes start with a blue/purple dye.

I thought I would add something else since this is a concern of some people when comparing the JP6 to the F1: the arm "cutaway" on the top bout of the body. On the F1 there is the same feature: the top drops away towards the side of the guitar where your picking arm would rest. It's not as dramatic as the JP6 but it still gives you, in my opinion, the same advantage. I actually prefer it because the transition is less abrupt than on the JP6. This also indicates that the flame top is quite thick and thicker than most maple tops on other guitars.
