Pretty sure this is my first thread over here, more active on talk bass, but anyways just wanted to share my new bass a sapphire black 4HH BONGO!!
After owning my ray for about 2 years,i knew i had my tone, anyways after cycling through quite a few basses to have as my second main axe,i caved and decided to indulge in the Bongo
Just picked this up on a trade,a precision and some cash for this baby and i do not regret it all,it was a great deal in the end, So just picked her this morning from the post office, was even late to geography class cuz i needed to go home and plug her in.
So first impressions is wow, this baby is light, compared to my ray anyways, but feels so solid, I also didnt realize how thin the body was, expecting more girth ,but it shapes so well around my gut,So i plug her in and its everything i expected, excellent flat tone, which i love and the pre amp kills, I love how the mids and bass are the bigger knob as i use those the most, the lows on this thing is unbelievable,i could never get this low with a p and flats, and sounds great or dub,While it has a different voicing than my ray,i could definately see myself using most of the tones ive heard.
Anyways, ive probably only played it about an hour ,so i wanna see how many tones i can get out of it,Im so excited i probably posted that i want a bongo a dozen times here lol and its finally come true,
As a note to Mr. Sterling Ball, thank u for creating such a intuitive bass,im not a slapper, or progressive player ,or play beyond the 12th fret let alone the 24th on my baby lol,im a 20 year old into punk rock and motown, while i love a fender p, and think its a classic,I really just wanted to say the hell with all that throwback vibe and progress forward with one of the best tools mm has to offer
While ive had many a new bass days, this is the first that i took the time to make a nbd thread, but my bongo deserves it. I hope its safe t say that im a bongoloid?
Heres some pics ,I love the color, would like to get a black guard soon, idk if anyone wants to trade?
Thanks for reading guys, now i gotta decide if i should put some flats on my way again since, the bongo can cover most of its tone with rounds.
