No, I'm not talking about Yngwie here. I'm talking about what's hanging behind him on the wall. That looks like a guitar made for Seymour Duncan? Tell us about it!

There's a signature on the headstock. Is it an AL?

In the mid-'90s, Sterling Ball and Edward Van Halen collaborated on a charity golf tournament which was held at the Lake Sherwood Country Club in Westlake Village. Seymour Duncan sponsored one of the holes. The Seymour Duncan-sponsored hole was marked as such by very cool sign that was really a Music Man guitar neck, with "Seymour Duncan" painted on it. I stayed at the hole and greeted all the golfers before they played the hole and I gave them trinkets like Seymour Duncan bottle openers and such and joked around with them and told them what Seymour Duncan was, for the few that didn't know already. That day, I met a ton of big name celebrities and lots of musicians whose names you'd know.

Anyway, when the tournament was over, I picked up the hole marker and took it home with me. After all, we paid for it when we sponsored the hole. For about 15 years, the neck sat in the corner of my office. When some dodgy person would enter our lobby and freak out the receptionist, me and a few other guys would get a discrete page and we'd come down to the lobby check out the situation. And I was always holding that guitar neck.

Then, last year when Frank Falbo started working here, he said, "Why don't you make that into a guitar?" I had never thought of it before. The body and bridge are actually OLP. And Frank cut a custom pickguard. The guitar is fretless and it's set up with a pair of Blackouts and it's strung with .008s, on account of it not having a trussrod. It's super hard to play, but it looks pretty cool and it's definitely a conversation starter.

Thanks for asking!
