A really good friend of mine is making "the trip of a lifetime" to the USA then onwards to New Zealand.
She asked me if a knew anything about Elvis's Gracelands?
No I said, but I'm on a World Wide Guitar forum and maybe I can find out for her.
This is what she said ...
Anybody out there been to Gracelands Memphis ? If so are the passes worth buying or is it best just to rock up?

Any knuckleheads have an answer that I can pass on? Cheers. Spud

I was just there a couple of months ago. I don't think you need to purchase tickets in advance. We just walked up. You need to go to the visitor center and from there they shuttle you over to the house in small busses. You can spend as much time as you want at the main house and grounds. Then across the street the have the car museum and also his airplanes that you catwalk through. Very much a time warp! I had a great time. Ask questions.. the tour guides are all well informed.

I can second that, I was there last year and all of this is correct. There is some talk of the airplanes being re-located, but it seems they are there for the moment.

If you want to go to Sun Studios, you can park at Graceland (which is $15 I think) and get a bus to Sun. Sun is in a sketchy part of town, so this may be the best option. We tried to drive to Sun last year and we had a brand new rented Tahoe. Not only is the access road tiny, we did not feel safe getting out of a $65k SUV!
