No - not that!!

4.4 inches is the average speaker size of all the drivers in my bass rigs!!

I was just looking at my gear and realized that I no longer own any "traditional" bass speaker cabinets. I use the Bose L1 system (tower and 4 sub woofer boxes) as my main performance rig. When playing a venue with an FOH system or practicing at home I use one of my Phil Jones rigs.

Speaker count:

24 - 3.5" drivers in L1 tower- Bose
8 - 6" drivers in sub woofers - Bose
16 - 5" drivers in Phil Jones cabs

Average speaker size = 4.4"

Despite what many will consider a lack of air-moving size - my EBMM basses sound great through these set-ups.

Each sheet of Quilted Northern toilet paper prior to approximately April 2000, when they reduced it to 4.0 inches?

I'm not sure whether it's a good or bad thing that the internet enables me to find that type of useless information in just a few seconds (googled "4.4 inches"). :)

I tried one of these out over the weekend. Wow, what a great system. A bit expensive for my needs, but what a versatile setup. If I were looking for a P/A / bass amp / guitar amp / keyboard amp / dessert topping / floor wax, I'd buy it. :D

It is great when the whole band uses them. We have three. Played outside last night and we sounded great.

Kickass, ain't it? Heh.

Here's a fun trick:

Kick up the bass EQ on your Bongo and make some stuff fall off tables. Then show people how small the speakers are. Watch them bruise their chins as their jaws hit the floor.

PS: Yes, it's expensive. But when you consider that it replaces my bass rig, AND all monitors AND all signal processing AND the mains, it's pretty darned cost-effective.

Kick Ass is right. And we certainly learned the secret. But dang, that secret is expensive. Especially if you're just looking for a bass amp.

How's the reliability? Any issues with heat? What about portability? I was also concerned with the shear volume of stuff you have to carry (5 bags). But the sound and flexibility of the system certainly seems to make it all worth while.
