Hey a friend of mine who's cutting an album posted a site with mp 3's of her demo's. I play on two of the recordings. The guitar sound is an ovation acoustic going through a mackie... not a great sound, but then again not a great piezo system either. This just showcases an aspect of my song writing. The song "the honesty" and its arrangement was made in less than an hour. the other song was a song her and i wrote in high school. just acoustic pop stuff in my opinion, but i think its pretty different sounding than whats out there. We recorded this stuff on my four track last summer.

the songs i play on are "The Honesty" and "Finding Ways." at the end of the honesty you can hear me making up the ending on the spot haha. I forgot that there wasnt another verse so i had to fudge it.

I plan on re-recording this stuff with her when i get my Petrucci, that way i can have a stereo guitar part, with each signal effected a little differently to give it a cool texture.

let me know what you think. ( the link is below)

God bless,

Tony

to be honest with you ... i think the songs we wrote together sound better and more organized than the stuff she writes on her own. ive tried to get her out of the stream of consiousness kinda of writing just to open her up to different writing styles... but she just does her own thing. which is cool, its honest. i'm hoping to write more stuff with her and get some gigs this summer.

when we were in high school we play "finding ways" and "Tom Sawyer" by rush at our Senior variety show. We fricken rocked that place. My drummer had pearts parts down to a T and of course your truely certainly beefed up Liefsons' parts hahah. ...

still chasing that dream i guess...

God bless,

I liked the little part you did at the end of the 1st one, and I like the fact that you support the songs instead of looking for an excuse to shred.

For some reason I expected lots of shredding. ;)

thank you so much man!!! by the first one i take it you meant "the honesty". i liked that part too. it resolves nicely. the wierd thing about that song is that it has both E major 9 (the end chord) and Em ( the second chord of the chourus) it trips me up when i try figuring out what key/scale the tonality of the song is derived from, but i dont worry about it too much. it just sounds great.

I know what you mean about the shredding haha. Most guys who post on forums like these are most times posting themselves wanking over some chords. Nothing wrong with that, its just not my thing... well at least not in this context. Like i said this is one aspect of my playing. I felt that this song was one of the better ones i've written with my friend Karyn. W have a couple others but havent recorded them.

Working with an actual singer and songwriter is a fun challenge. it really puts your playing in the forefront and forces you to do exaclty what you said "support the song". thanks for listening and im really pumped that you dig it. i was afraid you guys would be like "oh this sucks, its not rocking " or whatever. This is the only thing i have a recording available online so i figured what the heck... let's see what some people think. Glad it wasnt shot down.

i really want to work with singers more, they're just not readily available around here. I would love nothing more than to be a guitarist for a talented singer. I can play all day with a person who's got an ear for melody, beautiful voice and thoughtful lyrics. maybe someday .... lol

God bless,

Tony
