My fretless Sterling has a decent-sized ding through the finish from a flying Dunlop straplock -- I was flipping the strap over my shoulder and the straplock hit the bass. I've dinged a couple of headstocks on cymbals at band practice, but the most painful accident I've had was a couple of years ago. I had waited five or six months for a S@dowsky jazz with matching headstock, and it showed up a couple of days before a gig. I took it to the gig and was as careful as I could be, and I thought it made it through clean. Took it home that night, and pulled it out of the case for a final inspection. I lifted it up to check the body and hit the headstock on a ceiling fan that chipped the finish. I'm going to get the headstock refinished one of these days, but every time I see that chip it pisses me off.
