.........BTW to all out there....Bongos do suck! They suck the life out of you ever wanting to play another bass other than EBMM's!

I have been playing mine so much....(the JP's are getting worried)...that I might be after another one.......decisions, decisions, decisions......man, I like that kind of predicament!
Just before Bongo entered my world, I had acquired a couple of Spectors, and strangely enough, when it's time to take the Bongo out the door, the Spectors are the only other options that nag at my mind.

My main need for a bass is not the the Bongo/Spector sound but more along the thin-hollow-body, FL-with-piezo semi-acoustic thing. So I can't, for my needs, call the Bongo a Do-Everything bass. But Dee-amm auntie Em, when it's not a hollowbody gig, it's a no brainer that's it's a Bongo [or Spector] gig. I mean no insult to say the Bongo has an equal. Spector is very respectable company to be keeping. Even my pre-Bongo MM [which is also pre-Spector] is a very woody, almost acoustic sounding SR4 FL, more in line with my usual needs, and less fragile than typical semi-hollow bodies.

Anyway, as someone harboring many diverse basses, I just thought I'd speak up [and then quickly duck for cover] to agree that Bongos really do suck the life out of nearly every other solid body bass except the Spectors [real ones]. Thing is, owning the Spectors is just a fluke of timing, and they cost more than the Bongo and have inferior quality control. Sure, day by day the Spectors clamor equally for playing time with the Bongo, but day by day now ignores the original purchase price, and time spent attacking both Spectors with [small] power tools!!! The Bongo was just plug-n-play.

when you are that big of a site, the number of dimwits grows exponentially. If this board was as large and popular as TB then I am sure we would have are share of morons here too.

Read all the posts from the user marked as "banned" here (3 pages. Don't miss a single one!). This one is the clear winner as far as I've seen.

LOL....no problems bro. I happen to play guitar and got a bongo for Christmas last year....so, this is the only bass I have ever owned. Lucky me I guess. I am really getting into the bass and I absolutely love my bongo. I attribute this to the fact that my when I got my JP, my other guitars went to their cases to never return.

I have heard of those basses (Spector) and in no way imply that they are inferior, I am just a rabid EBMM bass/guitar/string user that cannot see past it......LOL. I am sure there are other high quality basses out there....I just prefer EBMM no matter what. Cool you love the bongo as well and by all means, continue to play both the basses.....peace.

This guy had to have been dropped on his head as a child.

KSD, to me, and over here its boutique

I don't care if he lives in Australia or not but a KSD bass is not a "boutique" bass anywhere on the planet.

Case closed...he's an idiot.

When I read the word Ashton, I thought the same. I personally liked Aussie Mark's line "put down the bong and step away from the keyboard" priceless :D

Nah. He has a long history at TB. You credit him with way too much wit.

The death metal kid... I'm pessimistic enough to believe that was genuine.

For those US residents, Ashton is the type of equipment that would be carried in Walmart if it was sold in the US. It's absolute rock bottom gear sold to kids as their first amp or cab. It's priced less than Behringer.

Of course Ashton should never be confused with Ashdown. I wonder if people have ever made that mistake?

...BOngos weren't made with Peavey players in mind ...thats as far as I will go......

Oh heck, yeah! I think everyone understands that. I used to play one like the one pictured below that belonged to a friend of mine.

Say what you want, but if you had a fulcrum, a rope and a T-40, you could dig out a stump!

Aahh... so many memories. That was my first bass, back in '86. Exactly the same but with a maple fingerboard. This picture is from 1987.

Sorry for the non-EBMM content. I just feel nostalgic now (not because of the instrument, of course). I was 20 when this picture was taken and it was (I think almost exactly) one year after I played a bass for the first time in my life.

Then Bill, you never played one for two hours straight.

I keep the Dream Peavey Rig around because it was cheap and no one else would really want it*, but if I had a T-40, well, I'd probably keep that, too, because the shipping would cost about twice as much as the actual value of the bass (due to weight).

*Also, I like using the phrase "dream peavey rig"

Yes, yes, yes?

By the way, Alvaro, that is just one really cool photo of you.

I love old photos.

Although in my life, 1986 was just a couple of days ago.

In fact, I was dragging a Peavey Patriot (you couldn't really get cheaper than that in those days) around Central America in 1986. I think it found a good home in Nicaragua.

+10000000. As the "Bongo Defender" in chief, I knew you'll come up with the best response. Excellent!

Well, yes, but this implies that BONGO's need defending, when they are quite clearly capable of crushing all who stand before them with very little help from anyone. WMD's for bass players.
