well I'm off to spread the word Bongo this weekend, meeting up with a bunch of online friends and playing some songs on both 4 and 5 HS Bongos (combined with my 1500W rig, I reckon a good impression will be made).

To all of you lurking tb'ers and the fine ebmm knuckleheads.

I check TB from time to time. Nice big site. I cant start posting there or I wont get any work done!

I also think that being bigger has probably made it a litte aggressive to say the least. Not just my brand, but there seems to be a interesting mix of attackers/aggressors/supporters/defenders.

I would not respond well to Heath the Great. If I was single and his sister was available and I thought she was "head heavy' and horrid, I wouldnt post miserable things about her on the internet..... I just would go on to the person I found attractive and appealing

I would like to thank Heath for liking one the mid eighties with the birdseye neck....we made it so in twenty years we made one that is special to him. He is getting his 15 minutes,15 minutes that wouldnt exist anywhere else but TB certainly not here.

I believe that the world needs more unique bass designs for the players of the world to choose from, not less.

alright, first off im sorry for coming over here..but i seriously think im being misrepresented in that thread, i know i have my bad record over there, but hey, im young, im stupid, but if you see i was baited a fair bit too....like someone saying my kubicki looked like it had been kept behind a toilet....and yeah, ive said alot of stupid things, and maybe i should of reworded my dislike for bongos, but thats just how i talk, and theres nothing wrong with peavey gear, reliable and great sounding.....and i would also like to say that the thread wasnt abot bongo's in the first place.....

and for a yarns sake "heath the great" was my yahoo mail address years ago that my girlfriend from back yonder set up, so to keep it easy i kept the same user name

For those US residents, Ashton is the type of equipment that would be carried in Walmart if it was sold in the US. It's absolute rock bottom gear sold to kids as their first amp or cab. It's priced less than Behringer.
and to set the record straight, ashton cabs are more expensive than behringer, and whats wrong with a generic built cabinet with a celestion speaker?..im only playing pubs, the punters arent gonna realise the difference between ashton and ampeg

Welcome.
If any past girlfriend openly gave me a nickname that had the word "Great" in it I would use it too.

My advice on the gear side is stop while you are still breathing and take five and read and soak some sage advice.

When bragging about a knock off cabs "with Celestions" being ok, my immediate reaction is to assume that the celestions are made in china and only celestions for branding and licsensing. Most cheaper amps that brag abut celestions are using a very low grade version of the said manufacturer, or an asian knockoff that is made in a sweatshop.

Heath, I think I was fairly easy-going with my responses over there on TB. I'd have to re-read it all to be sure, and of course all bets are off if I was up late and drinking.

But I personally do NOT feel a quick ban coming on. I took issue with HOW you said it, much more than with actually WHAT you said.

Bongos are not for everyone. Nor are Alembics or Kubickis or Laklands or Modulus. Someone here said something to the effect of "More new bass designs are better than the same old thing over and over." On that, I would imagine we'd agree.

Even here, amongst the Kool-Aid drinkers, I frown on people posting "XBASS sucks!" Especially when someone here likely has one and likes it. It still happens, mind you, but I do try to keep things on an even keel as much as I can.

It's uphill work sometimes - these boys love their EBMM basses.

So for whatever it's worth, you're welcome here. Opposing viewpoints are not immediately dismissed out of hand - but of course it's always good to tailor your wording to conform to the audience.

Maybe I'll go have a look at the TB thread and see what happened along the way, but I think we can disagree on the relative merits of one particular bass and still remember that we are all, after all, bassists.

Thanks.

Jack
