Your right BP

I must admit that I often don't take the time to log in (how lazy is that :p ) Even though I pay a close attention to what's going on here... This forum is truly a great place to hang out!

Since you offered it I would have a question for you EBMM folks:
Most other companies offer very few lefty models, EBMM offers two (soon three with the lefty lukes to be introduced at the Indianapolis NAMM). Is the lefty market a profitable one? Do you need a distinct production line for each
lefty instrument? Is there any south paw artist endorsed by EBMM? Anything else that could be interesting to know?

Thanks!

J-Nick

Wow that's pretty cool. This is a really fun place and I would love to hear from others as well. I never thought that people were just "lurking" around here. Even if it's just to stand up and say hello, well, stand up and say hello. Please feel free to ask anybody anything. Share with us what you love about your guitars and tell us what kind you're looking for.

Welcome!

Hi everyone,

I am new here and have been lurking around for some time now, reading the posts and checking back almost everyday for something new. This is perhaps, one of the most positive and helpful music and guitar forums i have been on and reading here has greatly helped in my decision in buying my musicman guitar too.

Just ordered a Silhoutte about a 1 1/2 months ago. Halfway there, since the dealer i bought from told me its a 3 month wait. My first musicman guitar btw. Ordered it in teal pearl finish with a matching headstock and a moonstone pickguard. I've not seen anyone on this forum who has posted a pic of that combo and i am constantly on the edge of my seat not knowing if its gonna turn out great.

Glad to be part of this commitee and nice meeting you all.

Without out a doubt, we can see that ceratin things go hand in hand, and EBMM is no exception. Top of the line quality, design, price and craftsmanship in not only their instruments but also all of their products, plus the team at EBMM are of the most helpful and friendliest kind. Through into that mix a huge assortment of endorsed players, and world renown signature artists...finally sprinkle on top a forum whose collection of members identifies with the very product the forum represents. There is no other instrument, nor forum of any kind, similar to EBMM and its forum anywhere. Thanks EBMM

Here is the scoop with leftys

1.It takes the same amount of design and tooling effort as a righty with 98% fewer sales.

2. The molds and dies used to make the hardware cost the same as a righty with 98% fewer sales.

3. when ordering minimum quantities of the lefty parts from those molds usually entails investing in parts that take years to use up. When you invest in righty molds and tooling you know you will use those molds forever and many amnay times bringing the cost of the molds way down. With Leftys you reorder form those molds almost never.

4.Other than specialty lefty only dealers, regular dealers wont order them unless they are apecial ordered.

We started not charging any additional for lefty but could not continue due to lack of demand. We pretty much offer them as a cost of being in the guitar business.

Good question

Hey Hey thanks for the info!

With all those constraints I feel really lucky of owning a lefty EBMM... I wish I could afford more. It's time to start saving up for that Luke! :D

I have a question that originates in the Steve Morse video that you recently posted. In the part where you're "touring #1", you point to the back of the neck and say "notice the figuring of the wood...that's real hard to get"- by that, do you mean that particular wood is hard to come by? It looks like flamed maple, and I know some other folks have EB's with flamed maple necks (hi TommyinD)- is it just that that particular wood is rarer than birdseye, or is there more to it?

Also, were you able to keep track of where many of the first 50 Morse models ended up? I presume you have #2, but I'd be curious to know where some of the others went.

I'm really looking forward to the Y2D.

Sean

I'm going to try and guess before he responds!
I would say that it is difficult to align the wood so that the "flame" (Grain) is perpendicular to the direction fo the neck!?

Do I win a prize? :D

BP, though I am not a lurker I'll ask a casual question.

So, what are you doing for the big 4th weekend? Golfing maybe?
