Since Raz hasn't posted about JP for awhile  . I just watched a G3 video from 2001 in Toronto and John Petrucci was amazing. I'm totally diggin his solo stuff, I find it more accessible than DT personally. I'll have to get his instuctional DVD. Dave Larue was also amazing.

Raz has been in the dumps lately. JP's being naughty and therefore has been locked up, and untouched in the case fo' days! :(

I assumed the problems with the Pet was causing the foul mood, but it sounds like there's other stuff. Let it out, man, we're here for ya :)

Whoa! There's a DVD of his G3 gig? I know there are a bunch of G3 CDs and DVDs and I have some of them, but I didn't know there was one with Petrucci!

I also want to get his instructional DVD - if for no other reason than to make me feel more inadequate.

Thanks T,
I guess I'll have to lean on time to heal my wounds. It could be the heat, I guess the one downside of being a feel player is, when your down and out, playing gets tough. As for the Pet, it just needs to be tweaked...afterall it is new and with all those grummy hands all over it at the store...you know the story

It will certainly deliver on that...

I have that DVD and WOW, does he have great technique!

There is a bootleg 2001 G3 floating around with Petrucci, but this fall an official G3 release from the spring 2005 Japan tour will be available.

The instructional DVD is one of the best I've seen and I own several. Also, his book/CD pack "Wild Stringdom" is awesome. Its my summer project and I'm already seeing results.

* The August 2005 Guitar Player Magazine has a "Summer Chops Shape-up with JP" feature that is very good too. Sound bytes will be available on their website.

Also, get the Dream Theater "Live at Budokan" 2DVD set to see him in action. Worth every penny.

That G3 release sounds awesome any idea of what songs from JP? I think from memory he only played about 5 or 6 songs in his set.

I saw the bootleg being sold on Ebay. If you search "Petrucci" it should populate. I have no idea on setlists from either of the Petrucci G3 DVDs. I don't support bootlegs, so I'll wait until fall for the official release. Satriani's website will be the first place to find any info since G3 is his label's project.

Cool - thanks. I've been a JP fan for years. Been loving DT since Images and Words. I just never bought any of his instructional stuff. The Budokan DVD is awesome. Unfortunately my wife is getting sick of it because it's all I play on the big screen! I'm finally going to get a live glimpse this summer though - going to Gigantour in August. Woohoo!

Thanks for the pointers!
