For fear of Jon calling me lurker  I'll introduce myself to those of you who haven't been irritated by my posts yet.

My name is Arianne and I love in wonderful  Peterborough in the UK - bout 80 miles north of London.

Was previously a pianist and a flautist, however since getting married and moving I don't really have the time for both anymore, esp with working full time at Thomas Cook's HO, and a piano in a flat isn't really practical! :)

My hubby is a guitarist who absolutely loves his music, and having always had a desire to play bass, from being interested in it at school and whatnot (my God that seems like so long ago and I'm only 20! :( ) I decided that it would be a bit Sonny and Cher-ish (hopefully waaaay better!) if we had another shared interest besides films and music and stuff... so onto eBay I went a got myself a bass and amp about 9 months ago.

Don't really get to play as much as I would like due to aforementioned job, but I need to make more of an effort to play when I get in - prob is at the moment I want to play my bass but spend too much time on the Net looking at certain MM basses I want to get to replace it! :) But it knows I love it really..

Anyhow, enough about me, and I gotta get back to work coz lunch is finished, but Hi to everyone, thanks already for some of the help I've had, and BP, please keep up the good gorgeous work! Can't wait to order a Sterling or a Ray - especially now I know the love and care that goes into the guitars you guys make - if that's not a deciding buying factor for someone, I don't know what is. That and the fact you and the guys (and Beth!) from MM show up here too - I can't imagine employees from other companies (cough G**son cough!) do the same.

So thanks! (man this is a long post! Sorry!!!!)

Wow, a bona-fide female bass player on the forum!

Welcome, Azzy. I think it's cool that you took up the bass for the reasons you mentioned. Keep working that day job so that you can buy several Music Man basses in the near future! And maybe some MM guitars for your husband? ;)

yeah okay, lurker here. My main excuse used to be the time difference between the US and Europe, but I have seen an increasing amount of comments posted in the wee hours.

May I say that I wish I could make it to the open house, I would truely give my left one to be there.

(thinks for a minute)

And probably my right one as well. Anyway thanks to BP for the invitation.

Yeah wheres the hubby? You haven't converted him yet...........Theres still time

There is still time I know - he's had to listen to me rabbit on about you lot and MM basses for a while now! :) I will convert him yet, even though the guitars on his wish list are a Tele, a new Les Paul and an SG!

I've got my work cut out!

And as for the black belt, I'm afraid it's a no, but I'm always happy to try new things! :D

Dunno bout babe! :)

Don't think I even really qualify as a bass player yet!

I'm just going to pray quietly that my internet usage is not being monitored at work right now! :D

Welcome Arianne! Jump over into the guitar forum side of this and ask what EB guitar can replace the Tele, Les Paul and SG. They may be able to point one out that does it all.

Welcome AW. Actually I'm no longer an Old Blues Bassman, I'm just old and play bass. In fact I'm the Old Bad Bassman of the UK based MM fraternity on account of the fact that I modified one of my MMs. The fact that I have another four in superb original condition seems to be ignored. Only joking. You will find a load of very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful people here.

How is the live music scene in Peterborough? The band I play seems to be on the road continually this year, 51 gigs and counting, but we've never been to Peterborough. Maybe one day.

HI Dave

Unfortunately I'm a bit ignorant of the local scene here... my hubby and I don't drive, so getting to gigs and stuff is a bit tough... but I know there is always a lot going on - we have quite a few venues around here, and we cater for various different tastes - having a Uni here (sort of!) and lots of colleges means that those youngsters (God that makes me sound old!) are quite into their metal and heavy distortion, but we have a few tribute bands too. Dave at the local music shop plays in a Foo Fighters tribute band who are supposed to be quite good, so we may have to make the effort one night.

And if you all can't be bothered to type azzy_wazzy, just call me "azzy" :)

Trev's had a look at the guitars and likes the Steve Morse... then fainted when he saw the price! Hopefully he can be convinced that it is as good as the other 3 guitars he wants and so works out better value... I'll try anyway!
