If Big Pooper wants me to tell I will divulge.

Regarding GC here is something to consider: GC's ordering/distribution process is much more complicated than you guys are making it out to be. Imagine all the brands/sku's they carry. You may complain that they have only one to three colors per model per store, but you do at least get to play the instruments, and if you like the instrument but not the color you can always special order.

Or, you can wait until they have been on the peg hook for a year and buy the common color below cost. :D

Either/or.

I don't consider GC at all in my business. I think they can do whatever the hell they want to do and more power to them. What they do or don't do doesn't effect my business at all.

I can assure you--once there is a LE announced that fits my requirements, I'll be Paypaling you a downpayment even before a retail price, or release date is announced. You have nothing to fear from GC since you can offer a level of service of which they could never even hope to aspire.

Which reminds me--Paypal string order on the way, Dude.

The only new 2 pup basses that will ship this year are the Limited Edition models.

Getting back on topic, it just dawned on me that "this year" only has a couple of weeks left in it. With NAMM coming at the end of January, is it safer to say that the non-LE 2 pup models will start to ship before, or after, NAMM?

Dargin will fix me if I'm wrong, but I think the non-LE dual pickup models have already begun to ship. I believe BP mentioned that they were on the way to GC, or close to being on the way, a week or so ago.

That's where the "order a thousand" line came from. I was whining because I'm all special and needy and, well, whiny, and BP said, "Hey, when you order a thousand, you get yours first" or something like that.

I still cry at night, alone in the dark, though.

OKay, now I'm befuddled. Dargin said TODAY that the only 2 pup models shipping this year are the LEs. Now, you're saying that BP said a week ago that the regular ol' dual pup models were starting to ship. What method are they using? Pack Mule?

Ooops, you're right and I didn't see Dargin's comment.

In cases like this, put your money on Dargin.

And BP may have said "getting ready to ship" or something along those lines.

And remember, Dargin's right there, getting the work done, while BP is off sipping vodka drinks with celebrities and whatnot.

All I know is that I have two LE SR4 HH's ready and shipping to me today and can expect the remaining Buttercream dual pickup LE's I have on order to likewise ship to me by the end of 2005! Thanks for the heads up Dargin!

Dargin's post seemed pretty clear to me.

GC has recieved shipments and I believe they hit stores today. The models are non-limited edition. Indepentdent dealers will only receive LE models in 2005. Sorry for the confusion.

Its clear that you dont like Guitar Center. Duly Noted. It is also clear that you dont understand the distribution process that goes into feeding 156 stores. Also fine

Do I like it when they blow stuff out? Absolutely not. You are portraying them as only sellng blow out stuff. They sell TONS of stuf at normal prices. They are publically traded and if they regularly lost money on each sale their stock would be in the toilet.

The great thing about being an independant store is to see whaat they are "perma-ordering" and pick colors and options that they aren't. I get on them all the time about riding a color into the ground.

I recommended it to my brother when they were at about 110 stores and trading at $10 a share but I don't think he bought any but then again I told him to buy Citibank stock at $10 a share when I worked there in 1989 and he didn't either.

What can I say? He's an idiot.

Actually, I have no problem with Guitar Center. I've bought both of my Bongos from GC--one a special order. Originally, I was just making a reference to the Bongo I picked up a couple of months ago for below cost that kinda caused a minor dust up. I've had a really good relationship with the Sales Manager at the Atlanta store for about 5 years now. In fact, he's going to give me a call the minute their 4HH Stingray shows up (in Black Sapphire with moonstone with matching headstock:D ). He doesn't really do much sales floor work, and I don't like the other guys there, or feel like building up a new relationship to avoid haggles, smary salesguy tactics, etc.

So, no problem with GC here--other than seeing the same damn three Bongo options (none with single H) in every GC I've been in regardless of city/state/region...Has a single GC had a single H fo store stock ever?

But, I'm certainly planning on giving Dude some Bongo love with my next purchase whenever that may be. The man's been selling me strings for years, and it's time I gave him some real love.

I can and do KYA but I stand by my statement, which seems to be proven by your admission above.

I love GC. Going down there tomorrow morning, in fact, to help a friend's wife buy him a Telecaster. Lord knows I've tried to talk him into other things, but he's a freak.

Good point. I hate going to GC as it always gives me a headache and most of the sales staff are maroons. But, that's where I first played a Sterling which is what got me into this EB compulsion. I didn't buy it there but it'll probably be the place where I first play a dual pupper too.
