What??? That's stupid!

"This is the worst sounding bass I've owned to date"
What a moron. There's no other word.

"The wood used is very cheap. Poor grain, and obviously just the cheapest stuff they can get their hands on."

Jesus.... those two are idiots.

EDIT: from what he says about a 'chorus effect' (which he is making up) and the volume going to number 11, it seems these two reviews are from the same person.... what a prick.

sounds like they probably put in 12 year old batteries and played thru a 10 watt practice amp with a blown speaker and dimed the EQ on the bass and the amp.

all joking aside i could NOT disagree more with those reviews. i lobe my sterling HH

"the #2 Yellawood pine they make these out of now"
Those guys really were on crack or something.... whatever it was, it must be good!

the last review seems pretty fitting though.

Yeah I definitely do not take him seriously. Saw some vid on youtube, and the HH sterling sounds WONDERFUL.

I think they're both the same person - posted one week apart. Obviously he's on a mission and thinks he can get back at Music Man by posting on Harmony-Central. Jeez, BP, what did you say to him?

reading the review leads me to believe the guy doesn't know what good amplification is.

t-bone, enough nut-jobs have passed thru here, who knows. I could name a couple but not going to just in case.

Say hi to Julia. I wish I hadn't miss that party. Might come for a visit once the quarter is over. :)

A lot of these "posters" have an axe to grind!! This is how they vent.

That's why you typically need a couple dozen reviews to be able to form a somewhat credible opinion.

Start posting reviews!
When 1 bad review is surrounded by 30 good ones someone looks stupid!!!!!!

Those first two almost definitely from the same person. How sad that someone would take precious time to write two "reviews" like this.

Lol that's too funny, typical of the glorious internet.
I don't think anyone playing bass could take that seriously, and if they do they are too stupid to be even drummers lol

Again, yay to the internet, where everyones' opinion counts, or not

Good old Harmony Central!

Nothing like reading an unbiased review.

(and that was nothing like reading an unbiased review)

I've never played a Sterling but I have played 4 and 5 string Stingrays in the various pickup combinations and own 3 Bongo 5s in the different pickup combinations. I'm not the best bass player in the world(actually average would be a compliment) but in my opinion they are marvelous basses and I wouldn't be without them. On top of that the company is fantastic and treats its' customers really well. I've met Sterling and Beth twice and they were so kind and welcoming to myself and Louise, really genuine. I met Kevin, Jodizzle, Aziah and some other employees at the last bash, and again I couldn't wish to meet friendlier more helpful people.

In terms of cost, in the UK we pay a little more than the guys in the States, but for what we get it is well worth it. Okay so prices have risen, but I believe they were fairly static for a few years. Anyway, this guy needs to get real, oil is up from about $30/barrel 2-3 years ago to $110/barrel now, along with pretty much all other commodities. This is bound to have an effect on the cost of manufacturing. Although I've only met Sterling twice, I have read a lot of his stuff on here and he doesn't strike me as the sort of guy that is out to rip off his customers.

Nonsense like those reviews upsets me.

Misguided

Sounds like the same person on both counts. I did come across these before, seemed extremly harsh and unbelievable. I really have not had much experience with HH versions, but have no doubt these two (or one) reviewers are pretty messed up. There are some very solid and high quality products out there within the $1200-$1700.00 range, I know I spent some time checking most of them out. In my opinion the family of MM products lead in this area. Heck sure I'm bias, but I am fortunate that I could invest into a solid instrument and did have many to chose from and feel I made the best purchase for myself, yes quite selfish I know.
From the 'Tone" of these reviews, I would surmise that these reviewers may have been dealing with some other much more serious issues, "falling down and hittings one head" comes to mind........ I think empathy may be the call here
