Thanks for asking. The healing is happening, albeit slowly. I had a 2nd set of X-rays two days ago....I could have opted for surgery, pins, all that and perhaps avoid future arthritis probs, but the broken bone is on the outside of my hand and we decided to wait it out and not take the risks associated with surgery. So it's 2 more weeks in a cast. At least.

I type SLOWLY with one hand. Can't play bass at all. While this sucks, I keep it in perspective. I took a serious bash to my head and actually thought "Ah, what a stupid way to die." Had the CAT scan and I guess my brain is no worse than it was before. So - perspective.

Listen, this is a good time to remind you guys to always wear a helmet. My hand would still be broken, but the head injury was way scarier. Protect your pumpkins, my friends, at all times.

Glad to hear things are going... well, better. It is kind of dull without your postings (ok, dull isn't the right word... things just don't seem right).

Anyway, take care of yourself.

BTW, you still want me to work on the calendar?

Jack crashed his kid's Razor scooter. Luckily the scooter survived.

Hope you get better soon Jack. And I hope you don't have to go through torture...uh, I mean physical therapy. It's a real pain in the shoulder for me.

+1 on that Jack!!!

My father-in-law fell off a bike a few years ago and we almost lost him from bleeding in the brain. He had some brain damage as it was. We got him a helmet and pads, but he kept saying "I've been riding all my life, I'm ok". Well, he tried to avoid hitting something and his handlebar hit a pole and down he went. He spent about 3 weeks in the hospital and the needed rehab for months.

+1+1+1+1+1 = wear a helmet.

Those things are dangerous for adults......................what the heck possessed you to ride that thing...................feeling kind of Evil Knievel huh. Thought you would show the kid the old man can still pull off some tricks.

Whoah - had no idea.

Jack - really sorry to hear about your accident and wish you a speedy and full recovery, whatever that may look like.

Gives me pause to re-think the many times I've tried to show my Son what the old man can do on his scooter...

Get well soon Jack! An old friend of mine fell off of a motorcycle and lost most of his memory. What was tragic is that he was a Navy Commander and had to retire because he did not know how to fly jets anymore. He did not even recognize his family. He has gotten a lot better over the past few years but it is a scary thing. I bought my very first bass guitar from him back in September 1977 and he was a big influence on my playing.

Does the cast match one of your basses? That would be sweet.

Hang in there Jack, can't imagine what you are going through not being able to play bass. It will be all the sweeter when you can start playing again. Get well soon.

Details.... either I've missed it or you didn't mention it but... is it the left or the right hand you've broken?

I am thinking if one is so inclined you could use the situation, and to take advantage of this unfortunate incident to excercise and strenghten the hand which is ok, and I hope your left hand is the one that is still intact, as otherwise, plucking open strings with the right hand on a bass can be pretty boring unless you wanna try and "bat for the opposite team" for a while, (the lefties that is) but if it is the right one which is broken then if this guy can do this I don't see what its stopping you from developing some serious left hand muscles.
