I just picked up a Musicman John Petrucci. Its the Dargie delight model. What a fantastic guitar.
I almost got a bass a few years back and have always wanted a Dargie. I love the feel and the tremolo is great. The Tremolo has this weird magnet thing installed. I can do whatever I want with it and it stays in tune.
My question is, I like the fact that it gets a really good strat tone. But, the strat tone is a lot quieter than either individual pickup. There are no pickup height adjustments, will raising the bridge PUP help? Or is this pretty much the way these models sound?
Anyone else here have one??
Am I allowed to ask what it would be worth? I paid 900$, is that a good deal?
Thanks

Its a dargie 1. With the martini glass inlays. Thats the model I have always wanted. Its not a Dargie without the martini glass!!

Its a Dargie one. Got the martini glasses. Its not really a Dargie if it doesn't have the martini glasses!

Congrats on the guitar. We love to see pictures around here :). To answer your question, that's the way the wiring works, parallel is always gonna sound quieter than series. Either get a compressor, a clean boost pedal, or turn up your volume in your amp and down on your guitar's volume pot when using positions 1 and 3.

I got it in Montreal on Kijiji which is the more popular version of Craigslist. I didn't think it was cheap as the John Petrucci sells for 900-1000$ on *another forum*.
The best part of the deal was I had a pedal I was trying selling for 200$ and the PO took the pedal and 700$ cash.
Is it worth a lot more just being the Dargie? I do go through gear a lot, but I think this one is a definite keeper.
Even my kids think its cool!
BTW...do all the Petrucci models have the birdseye neck? I love the look and feel.

wheres my pick?

Congrats on the dargie! I consider that price a steal, if I found one for that price over here I'd buy it immediately. And I already have one!

No piezo - brings the price down, but still excellent score.
