At least strings are something I can GAS for without having to check the bank account first :)

I hope these will be able to replace the non-EB's on my 25th HSS (slinkies just where not working for me) :D

First clue... The word "guts". Gut (yes, that gut) is a very traditional material used for upright bass strings. Gut won't work with magnetic pickups or, as I understand it, EBMM's version of piezos without the addition of some magnetic material. Which brings us to the next clue: the word "hybrid".

I doubt EBMM is using real gut for anything. But it sounds to me like some inside out nylon wrapped strings or something along those lines.

But that's just me...

I agree that "Catguts" was a huge clue and that it would most likely be nylon. Now, taking a close look at the second photo of the package, one will see the outline of wrappings. This means that it is some type of round-wound.

I can only hope and pray that it will be a nylon filament round-wound type (which I LOVE on some of my basses) that has been sadly discontinued by F*nd*r. I also hope that the end that goes over the bridge will be exposed metal so it will work with the EBMM piezo system. :)

I was able to get the nylon filament to work - on my Bongo fretless - by putting just a small piece of metal (clipped piece from other EBMM metal strings) under the nylon where it meets the piezo. ;)

I am so ready to get some of those if that is the fact!!!!:D

I can't help but think that BP and crew are having a hearty laugh over the deep and intricately detailed speculation sparked by little more than a photo of a mylar pouch and a few random words from Craig.

We really, really have too much time on our hands around here….
