Perhaps someone decided to trace someone else's decal, and a body blank was the most convienient writing surface in reach? Seems innocent enough, but that might have happened from the pressure of a ball point pen . . . .

It is possible. Still, the mark is too perfect for that, and the line is wider then a ball point pen. If you apply constant presure against the wood, the line will not be constant, becouse, the wood is not omogen. And the wood is not that soft, the line is pretty deep.

I am sure it is from a sticker being on the bass. It could be possible the bass could of seen a lot of UV rays which could of bled the inks from the sticker into the clearcoat. the blueburst finish was offered around the time some basses had clearcoat issues......

Too bad it isn't a portrait of Jesus, you could be on the 5:00 news then.

Except the finish is level and undamaged.

Exactly. They did it on the bare blank, and then finished over it . . . . I wouldn't expect anyone to use a finished body as a "writing desk" but I can beleive it on a raw blank . . . who knows?

- It has nothing to do with the finish. It is BELOW (and I repeat BELOW) the original finish, and it is carved into the wood. It is very difficult to take a picture of it, if you'll see it "live" you'll understand that it is not possible to be a sticker mark.
First of all, a sticker mark on a 14 y bass, is like a square shape with the original finish colour, ligter than the rest of the body. Remove the pg to an older bass to understand.
And second... Homer is carved into the wood, b e l o w the finish :) I realy dig the "Homer part time job at the paint department" more then the sticker mark theory :D
