Ive got to be honest. Since changing my strings a couple weeks ago to a non-EB brand, Ive been a little frustrated with my sound. Some days Im in love, and others I just feel like somethings not right. I know my SR5 is a smokin bass so Ive gone as far as to question if the Little Mark II or Berg HT112 was a weak link for me.

So, I ordered some EB flats (Ive tried them on an SR4, but not on my SR5). The guy I get strings from carries all the EB flat sets (groups), and sells the .130 low B strings individually.

I got the Group II set ( .050, .070, .085, .105) and added the .130 low B.

Slapped those puppies on and all of the sudden ALL IS RIGHT. Im in love with the tone and feel of these strings big time. Id go as far as to say that my love affair with TI flats  may have been weakened a great deal.

So try them, they KILL.:D If anyone wants to know, I ordered them from:

On a sidenote, isnt my baby purdy? This pic was taken months ago while she was wearing Slinkys.

I've been digging the flats on my HHp Bongo 5 for a couple of weeks now. They are the final stop in the string journey of the HHp.

Here are some mp3s from when the strings were pretty much brand new, so they hadn't had much time to settle in yet. Not an SR5, but sound samples nonetheless.

Hey bassmonkee what gauge of flats did you use on your Bongo5? I'm assuming even the thickest gauge will fit the Bongo nut okay since all basses sport the same compensated nut right?

How do the flats compare to slinkys then, can you slap on em?

Sure. Actually EB flats are pretty bright when new. You will get more of an old school (Larry Graham, Chuck Rainy -- Peg) slap tone, not the modern Mark King slap tone. I wouldn't want flats on all of my basses, but at the moment 3 of my basses do have them.
