Hey guys....

Well let me tell you about a horrific day i had today at a non ebmm dealer.....I was having a conversation with two of salesmen like i normaly do when i drop by..I have known the owner for about ten years, but he was not there....so during the conversation the new DVD of dream theater was brought up..so one of the guys was a dream theater fan and had bought the DVD, and i told him that on that DVD JP play the hybrid siltrucci guitar and i told that the guitar was awesome...then he proceeded to tell me that how come JP uses those cheap guitars, and that there just firewood he probably gets them for free that's why, and said that you would think he would a prs or something......at this point i was very upset i almost wanted to punch his lights out, but i said he's just an ignorent basdard that does not know what he's talking about....i defended ebmm and jp by telling him that i would think that jp could of picked any company to endorse, but he did pick ebmm, and i will put the quality of ebmm against any guitar company out there...i also told him i've been around guitars for a long time and have played purtty much everything out there...so i know quality when i see it...and walked right out of there with smoke coming out of my ears....

I just wanted to get this of my chest with my ebmm family, because it was like a thorn on my back....

and i'm also sure BP knows the real reasons why JP choose EBMM guitars..

Well, I am sure that the dealer you talked with is far more better player than Petrucci. That's why he's selling guitars in a shop and not playing in one of the world greatest band ...;)

The problem with a lot of shops is that they try to sell you what they have in stock and not what you really need ...

At the end of the day it´s just an opinion. Nothing more and I don´t think he will outtalk the EBMM guitar from some one who really wants to buy one.

That was probably down to ignorance on his part - the same thing happened to me, I remember many many years ago a bass player had bought a MM bass. I looked at him and said something along the lines of "why didn't you get a decent one like a F3nd3r Precision. He looked at me at said that his bass would knock spots off the FP and it was the finest bass that he had ever played.

That was my initial introduction to EB guitars, and I became "formally introduced" years later in 2005 when I bought my own.

Same thing happened to me last month. I was booked for recording some On air station jingles of a big radio station in bavaria. As I unpack may EVH and my silo and a few other guitars the producer says: Oh I thought about some F****er Str***t**er sounds, if you need one we have one here.
Next thing I remember taking pics with my cell of him playing around with my EVH, haha

so many times this has happened to me, even at EBMM dealers!!!!! some shops just know complete jack, actually to be fair its uaually one moron guitar salesman/"wanna be player", who just bags other players all the time, cos he's too busy stuck in some grotty guitar shop.

billy hydes here in melbourne ( blackburn store ) is the worst. one of the guys said to me once when i asked if they had any EBMM guitars in stock "why the F**K wouldnt you want an ESP? If you like shredding guitars?" i was asking about an AL, he had never even heard of Albert Lee, period. he thought EB was just a shredders brand.

LOL!

I typically get these responses as well. A long time friend's son came to stay at my place for a few weeks, and he's a decent player. When I unveiled my two Silos to him and said, take your pick, he just got this blank and disappointed expression on his face. I had to laugh. It didn't take long though for him to see the light. Now he's saving up for one.

Same thing happened the first time I brought a Silo to jam with some local friends. "What the heck is THAT?" they asked. But hey, who wants to be just another also ran? I'm sorta glad it's not a mainstream product, and no-one has ever complained about my playing except for me, but that's got nothing to do with my Balls.

Thanks guys for all of your responses.....makes me feel good to know that we have tight family here at EBMM to back me up when ever i need it..:)

I'm very sorry that the same things have happen to you guys and that you have come across some more idiots out there that don't know jack.....as a matter of fact i called a buddy of mine and told him what had happen., he told me that he knows the guy who said that, and said he was an ass and did not know anything about guitars... he also told me that even though he is not a EBMM owner yet!! he has gotten notice of the great quality of EBMM guitars and is seriously considering an axis, and also told me he liked my JP6 black sparke so much he was willing to trade with one of his guitars...so of course i told him sorry bud i don't think so...:D

austria (no kangaroos!)
happens here in austria always. no MMs stocked and only G, F, PRS, Ibanez and cheap stuff. even at so called EBMM dealers (found on importers website).
they:
never heard of a 20th
dont stock it
offer PRS when ya ask

i am sure if EB wants to expand in europe they have to work on that.
same thing happened when i asked for EB RPS strings.

well. i know what to do. but i know some interested guitarists who didnt buy EBMM in lack of possibillities here.
maybe i shouldt add a guitar store to my motorcycle store ..... ;-)

In France, we are lucky, the distributor is efficient (High Tech Distribution : http://www.htd.fr/).
Besides we have Tristan for the clinics

In France, it seems that MM has a very good reputation. When I play a gig, most of times, the guitarists in the audience are very interested by my Steve Morse Sig.
I am lucky : one of the shop near my house is an official dealer of MM and has always some stock.

Takes all kinds. Ignorance is an ugly disease. I've actually gotten crap from people for playing PRS on gigs, and previously Hamer because I don't play a Les Paul or a strat, and my Tele is a parts caster.

Don't waste your energy.

I can understand your frustration, but it's best not to argue with idiots :) Your blood pressure will thank you :)
+1

One of my favorite quotes: "Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience." :)

From my experience, people see things the way they want to and there's really nothing you can do to change that. The only way to get on the right side of an argument is not to have one in the first place.

First off, that guy is a complete idiot....as we all know. JP could have gone to ANY and I mean, ANY other company for his signature guitar. Does this dumba$$ really think JP would sacrifice feel, tone, sustain just to get a FREE axe? Ummmm....NO.
He is happy here at EBMM.

Hey, while we are at it...how about Steve Morse. 20+ years with EBMM...I mean, who is Steve Morse really!??!?? Does this dude even know who Steve is?

How about Luke. The most successful musician on the planet. He no doubt likes "firewood" to use on his tour and recordings.

Albert Lee? Need I make a comment?!?!

I am fired up as we are getting pounded by Ernesto or whatever this storm is called and the bass stolen thing.

More important than all the above, WE must all be idiots who like firewood for instruments. I am sharpening my shrimp fork.......stupidity should be painful, but in the dudes case...it would kill him.

Actually, I would love for you (hypothetically that is) to go back and back hand that dude across the chops and tell 'em Koog sent ya and give him my e-mail address. ;)

Koogie man, I love ya, but I'm getting worried about your blood pressure! ;)

Maybe our forumite should return to that store with an EBMM in hand and let the ignoramus feel the quality and playability first-hand. These instruments speak for themselves, so he won't need to say another word to the guy.
