Hotter pups for Silo HSS

For single coils, you can try DiMarzio Fast Track 1. It's a hum cancelling pup, and Andy Timmons, Greg Howe and Vinnie Moore use these. They apparently retain a single coil tone but hotter of course, and it definatly sounds great when any of these guys are playing. I'm thinking of putting these on my Silo HSS as well. I will do it soon actually.

No, because they are basically like Humbuckers in a single coil format. They have these two rails side by side. I think it looks really cool and modern as well, and you should be bale to get a sweet tone. Check out the DiMarzio site.

I've had Fast Track I's in both my Silos, and a ToneZone at the bridge. Very nice and balanced combination. But don't be fooled. Fast Track I is a humbucker, so it will never sound the same as a true single coil. It comes close but still misses the twang of a true SC. If you want a real single coil sound but hotter, you can try a set of Fender Texas Specials. Say WHAT?!! Yup, that's right, Texas Specials.

I'd go Hot Rails in the S slots, and a Duncan Custom 5 in the bridge if they're SD's...DiMarzios maybe a Norton S in the neck, a fast track in the middle and a Tone Zone in the bridge...

My recommendation for hotter replacement single coils would be to checkout Chris Kinman's PUs at Noiseless Stratocaster & Fender guitar pickups. I have them in both my Silhouette Specials and would not exchange them for anything in this world - period.

They can be obtained separately, not only in the shown sets, and what's best: superb tone, extra power (depending on the model) and completely noiseless.
For the bridge position humbucker I found the DiMarzio ToneZone a great choice for the Silo Special. I'll be trying an AirZone in the next weeks, too, cuz I just bought a new Black-Ice HSS pickguard and had that one installed there.

I'm contemplating a different project with similar objectives. I'm primarily a rhythm player, doing "classic rock". I play clean through various Fender tube amps. I bought my SS on Ebay. A previous owner had replaced the bridge humbucker with a Gibson (probably 59x) - it's quite hot. I want a more classic sound like a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates. My question is what single coils would work well with a moderate output "vintage" humbucker and produce minimal volume change?

+1 on the Kinmans. They are great pickups.
