I do not know what this guys problem is, but why he has to be such a jerk (and the ONLY EBMM dealer in San Antonio) is beyond me.

About four years or so ago I went there for the first time. I had just gotten a JP7 PRB and was thinking about a JP6 (as was my friend that was with me) and heard that there were a few in stock at this shop, so we went to see.

As soon as we walked in, he (the owner, whoever that is) jumped RIGHT up in my face and said 'So what are we looking at today? Planning on buying anything?'

That struck me as a little odd and rude, but I shrugged it off and said jokingly 'Hey man, we're here to see things with strings!' (I say that all the time when referring to guitars.

So what's he say? 'Okay SMARTASS!' Very loud and sarcastic, almost embarressingly so.

I had decided the rumors of the place being run by a jerk were true, so I hadn't set foot in the place again, until...

Today.

I walk in, don't get two steps in the door, guess who is in my face yet again asking me if I'm going to buy something again? Yep, you guessed it. Guess what happened again?

Him: 'So, are we looking to buy today?'

Me: 'Just looking at things with strings!'

Him: 'Okay, SMARTASS.'

WTF? Seriously? Four years later and he calls me smartass within 60 seconds of entering the store.

How he continues to do business, I have no idea.

I guess the fact that he has a few 4yr old EB's on the wall should not surprise me then.

Sorry to rant, it's just really frustrating that in and area as large as the San Antonio/Austin area is, that's the best EBMM dealer around.

Some people are just not very good at communicating. Guy may be a nice fella once you get to know him, its just, he has that saying programmed in his head because he doesn't know what else to say.

I got a tattoo once from a guy here in Liverpool like that. Looks at you like you have an ass for a face (which is not up for discussion!;), but once he relaxes, he is an absolute gentleman. Try a conversation with him about the MM's and see if he is really an a-hole or just a little nervous with strangers:)

that guy totally suckes! you would think after 4 years he could have changed the way he greet his customers! i do believe in karma and someday, he will get his!

my local music store here may not be as knowledgeable as i think they should be, but at least im proud to say that they are very polite to their customers, always greet you with a smile (even though at times your can tell its fake, LoL) and most of the times, give you a free pick!

I've found that many people go into business for themselves because they're too bullheaded to work for anyone else. Nothing fries me more than a business I'm supposed to thank for letting me buy something from them, like they're doing me a favor by taking my money. Forget that. The second thing which frosts my apples is ignorant and pushy salesmanship; even more when it comes from a business owner. There's just too much good competition out there to have to contend with that, even if it isn't always local.

Ok, rant switch off. :)

Looking at it another way, and to be @#$^#$% fair, this owner might have FU!@#$in Tourette's Syndrome.
On topic, the thing you already did,the part where you took your business elsewhere is the best way to handle a situation like this one.

Jeffrey,

If you'd just stop being a smartass and buy a guitar from the guy... :D:D:D

Then he'd be a "dumbass" ;):p;)

Have some fun with this tool!

Buy a $2000 guitar from him, but tell him you can only pay with pennies.

That's my 200,000 cents worth.

Hahah, no thanks Steve! :p

Seriously though, my bass player said I should go there with like $4,000 in cash, get him to ring up all kinds of crap, cables, an amp, guitar, etc., then just say "Ya know, I'm not going to buy all this stuff, I've decided you are a smartass." And walk out. :D

You should ! :D
Really unbelievable how they manage to stay in business, but I do know a few dealers that type around here in Germany... They suck big time. No way of buying there again.
One up for your bass player !
