Its wonderful!!! I think something like that should have been developed forever ago but finally!!! People can buy SC sized HB's so why not the opposite? Ive never heard of James Valentine but clueing in on the design of the guitar, I take it he was a telecaster/hollow body guy. The wedge in it is killer too! Based on the shape of it I was half expecting a 24 3/4" scale. Pleasantly surprised! I really think MM is coming up with a killer lineup this year!!! At the risk of sounding a little crass, the new non-signature models and some or the basses they've put up so far lean a little into the territory of that company I'll not name (please dont ban me
) but I think the business tactic is brilliant. Move a little closer to it and rob they're customers! It makes sense. If the necks are anything like a Silhouette neck, its gonna be the guitar equivalent of a gateway drug!
Plus given EB's masterful QC, your gonna get a better built instrument anyway! Some of the bass guys on the forum are being snobby about the whole ordeal whining about the "easy way out" and "no innovation"... Ive wanted what ended up being the Caprice Bass from EBMM for forever now! Who gives a s**t if it has some aesthetic similarities to some old favorites! BP has said something along the lines of being committed to furthering the instruments in the past, and IMO they've really NAILED IT on that this year. Some see it as an easy way out, I see it as MM thumbing its chin like a boss!
The only think I'm slightly perturbed about is that the wall of sounds that are the Silhouette and Sterling (and other pre-existing models) got shafted as far as finish options. I really wanted a new Silo Special in Tangerine Pearl
But I'm holding high hopes that they'll give it some new, even cooler colors!!!
Way to go BP and all the folks at EBMM!!! You guys are like the beef and bean burritos of musical instrument manufacturing!!! You've give me some killer G.A.S.
