Obviously BP had an idea for a forum but did it get up and running one day and BP posted something along the lines of "Greetings Knuckleheads, welcome to my new forum. Enjoy!" and then just wait?

If so, how long after the first post was the second post and who was that? Was it an employee? Was it just an employees club to begin with? Or did they advertise it beforehand?

I'm bored today, and my mind is wandering! :)

...and looking through those pages, I was the 1,139th person to register. That's a lot of people.

Well, that old thread tells us WHEN the forum started, but Brian asked HOW it started.. and that's a good question!

Presumably, someone made the decision to install a vbulletin-based message board.. who was it, and what was the motivation? (before BP came along and used it for "cheap self-promotion"...:D)

Oh, that's not my original idea. Some folks on a UK bass forum accused Sterling of using the forum for that purpose. Those of us who hang around know how far off base that accusation is!

That particular conversation annoyed me intensely - it says a lot about Sterling and the kind of bloke he is that he can turn round and poke fun at such stupid accusations. Although we have a right to be annoyed too, after being accused of sycophancy and butt-kissing ourselves towards the big man...

Ho hum - I only like frequenting this forum - I worry that the reactions I'd get on other UK forums would be the same as I get when going into UK music shops ;)

But yes, this forum and everyone on it is lovely :D

User 1869 here. (Click the link to view your own profile from the active member list at the bottom of the forums page. When you're looking at your own profile, the URL in your browser will have:
Code:
http://www.ernieball.com/forums/member.php?u=

and after that equals sign will be your user number, which is presumably in sequential order. That would make GWDavis user number 670.)

Hmmmm....I was going by this page:

http://www.ernieball.com/forums/memberlist.php?do=getall&page=42&pp=30&order=asc&sort=joindate

It's showing results 1231-1260, and I'm the ninth from the bottom.

In any event, I think we've successfully hijacked this thread... :D

No, you weren't, Slick. You were #598 (You'll notice your post count is pretty close to 3,451, though. :D ).

I was # 1252.

Duh, I must have had a huge brain cramp then man, thanx. HOOO, I got in early then. I remember finding this place and loving it. It was my first forum experience and I thought it was awesome, still do.

Thanx Steve, I just saw your post man and that makes sense to me.
