how do i setup a dunlop straplock??

3. Get your Dunlop Strap-locks.
4. Sell them on E-Bay

5. Buy a set of Ernie Ball Super Locks.

I'm a Dunlop user - there I have said it and it's off my chest!

I'm sure that the EB straplocks are fine and dandy - it;s just that I already have them on some guitars and couldn't justify shelling out for 6 sets of EB locks.

I have used them for years and have no problems with them.

I'm a big fan of the Schaller strap locks, all of my guitars have them. They are dependable and the perfect size. I have even removed Dunlop strap locks from guitars and replaced them with Schaller's. Just my two cents...

And i LOVE EM too!......The Eb ones are great as well but i have had the Schallers for a long time and have like 7 sets of em ..soooooo

OK, take off the old strap buttons. Use the existing screw holes as pilot holes and drill holes in the guitar a bit wider and as deep as the Dunlop strap Lock posts. Then mount the straplocks down in the holes and you will have flush mount straplocks. That is what I did with my JP6. [Before EBMM came out with straplocks.]

Thanks for the offer but, I'm holding on to them since I have 4 Carvin guitars (that came with the Dunlops) that I might sell in the future (to get more EBMM guitars ) and if and when I sell them I will put back the Dunlops on them. Although, I do have an all KOA with Evo's from '94 that I will hold on to.

I have always loved the Schaller strap locks. I am sure the EBMM ones are great, but I am in the same situation as Spud - I can't justify re buying 6 sets of straplocks! So with this in mind, its Schallers all the way for me.

I must say, I have always found the Dunlop ones quite clonky and big.

Yeah, I'm sure the EB straplocks are built like tanks would probably never fail but I find them bulky looking.
I still prefer the Dimarzio Cliplock straps. :-\

I've been using them for years

Try pushing the button to release the part you'll screw into guitar. No need to drill holes, just use dunlop screw and the little white plastic washers your guitar came with.

Then put the other pieces in your strap holes then put the big disc on other side of strap and make sure to use the 2 little thingies that came with your straplocks to secure the strap portion. This is the toughest part. You gotta use a screwdriver or something to shove that little f'r in there so be careful of your fingers in case u miss which does happen

Isn't there quite a bit of plastic in that? - Don't trust plastic at all in straps.
