I set the 3rd Channel of my Preamp Louder than the other 2 ..... I also sometimes use a Keeley Katana Boost on Channel 2

Many of todays amps feature two master volumes which can be useful. If you are using a fx processor adding a second patch of the same sound only louder. Or an EB volume pedal and just increase the volume when required. The last approach teaches you to listen to your band members more often.

I also have a 3-channel amp, which makes things handy..
but I also use an Ernie Ball volume pedal (VP Jr) to 'mix' my guitar into the band's overall sound.

another way is to have a good soundguy out front. Nothing more frustrating that taking a solo and the soundguy is in line at the bar

I use an EB Volume Pedal! I've had it for 8 years or so, still works perfectly, built like a tank!

how true
boosting solos is good to a point. Usually you are fairly loud even when playing rhytm parts and boosting it for solos may cause ear-bleeding effect to the rest of the band.I have a question though. How to throw EB JR volume pedal to act as a master volume not as a "gain" pedal, is it possible? loop maybe? I've tried that but it does nothing, it can only control amount of effects that are connected in the loop

You would put the Volume pedal in front of the amp, set your amp volume to the loudest point required and pull it back until required. Also you can get some cool Larry Carlton style playing with it too.Philip said:

I also have to say..... there isn't Too much of a volume difference between Chaneel 2 and three on my Preamp when I play. Ch. 2 Volume is on 6 and Ch. 3 is a hair or so Past 6.
The real key in My situation is Where I set the Tone controls:
On channel 2 the Mid is set around 4 and on Channel 3 its set aroun 6.... Adding midrange to your Solo sound will Really cut through the band without having a Huge volume jump.
I also reduce the Bass from a setting of 6.5 on Ch. 2 to just below 5 on channel 3.
Both of these things really tighten up the frequency range to put it out front of the overall band sound.

Yeah, either in the effects loop or in betwen a preamp & power amp. Putting it
after the preamp & before effects allows you to do echo swells too.
This way my tone/gain level remains the same, I simply have a "master volume" at my feet.

I use a 3 channel Dual Recto, so I use channel 2, with boosted mids and gain, and then step on a Maxon OD808 for even more sustain.

I use a 3 channel Mesa, and it has a solo boost on it, but when l used to use a 5150ii, i used my g-major with it, and l used all midi with it, and the g-major has a solo boost on it.

Usually for a boost I just stand on a milk crate...just kidding, I generally set up a patch thats louder but identically depending on the tone...

EVH used to use a phase 90 for a volume boost. Maybe it you could use something as simple as that?

A phaser isn't really going to boost your volume...OD pedals are good...just turn the gain down and the level up. If you want to go nice on a clean boost get a Z Vex Super HardOn...
