Absolutely. I said the same thing all the way back on p.2 of this thread. It doesn't mean I don't appreciate what I have, but it's easier to grab a bass off the wall than to dig it out of the closet. I also like the way they look hanging there.

I only have one bass (currently) ... my new Stingray. I have a wall hanger, but every time I put it on the wall, I get paranoid it's going to fall! I never worried about it with my old bass. Like having a new car and parking at the back of the lot I guess. I also have the children risk, so for now, it's kept in it's case. Speaking of it's case, the case is so nice, I like to open that when I get my bass just to look at it. It's also part of the package when showing it off to visitors.

I actually don't have a method. Sometimes they're on stands, mostly in gig bags, often leaning up against a wall or corner. I'm gonna get burned for this one, but my SR5 has bumped its head or slipped and fallen so many times ... lots of mojo on that one! It's my opinion that a bass needs to be played, and following that, needs to look like it has been played. While I definitely do drool over the dead-mint EB's in various threads (like Stanky's truly sublime creature) I know that eventually all finishes will chip, all tuning keys will bend slightly, and all pickguards will be de-sheened beneath a layer of dirty sweat and pick scratches.

Still, a bass is an investment, and I try not to let it get wrecked.

PS - just waxing philosophical here; I know that just because you hang your instruments on walls/keep them in cases 24/7 does NOT mean you are some kind of obsessive-compulsive, and I'm DEFINITELY not trying to insinuate that how one stores a bass translates directly to how much one loves/is committed to bass playing or bass guitars! I think that the guy who puts his EB's under glass and the guy who throws them in the trunk of his car without a gig bag both love playing them equally!

Now that I've effectively destroyed my chances of ever selling my SR5 on this board ... comments welcome!

I might be interested ... I'm considering a second bass that may have some cosmetic (but no functional) issues. I'd like to baby my new Ray and have a second one that I use as my "working" bass ....

All of the outlets in Hell are 2 prong only. No amp = drowned out by a piccolo flute. Come to think of it, that sounds like Hell, don't it?

I'm surprised that I'm one of the few that store my basses in hardshells. One is sometimes out on a stand, and the gig bags are usually only used when needed - not for storage.

One question for those of you who leave them out - dust gets on them which isn't a big deal, but what about dust inside the pots? Any of you have to deal with scratcy pots because of this? This is the main reason I don't leave mine out.

Mine tend to get more dust after playing one set than they do here in the studio in a week. I pull all of them off the wall to play or practice at least once a week and they always get wiped down after each use... much like my toothbrush.

I'm only posting because I have some experiance in the matter, but it is quite dangerious to run an amp, that is supposed to be grounded, into a non-grounded outlet. Or any other device -- like a computer -- that is supposed to be grounded, for that matter.

oh, I keep mine in their cases when not playing them. I have a dog and a 18 month old daughter...
