I'm know i'm not Devnor... but i thought i'd chime in anyway :)

It's Pearl Red.
As far as I'm aware, the initial run of lukes (the ones with floyds and hotter pickups) were only available in Pearl Red and Pearl Blue.

What do you mean on hotter pickups?
Were they custom EMGs ?

Dwells,
Just a beauty of a bfr Luke! I used to be more of a rock guy but the Luke sounded so clear and harmonically pure clean that my playing kind of went away from distortion to clean with delay and a bit of chorus sometimes.

I still have and occassionally use a setting on my Line6 Flextone II that simulates a soldano amp and its an amazing tone. A friend who's still a rock guy plugged into my amp (soldano setting) a couple weeks ago and declared "That's my sound!" To which I replied, "No it's not. It's mine" :p

FWIW Lukes son Trev plays these guitars too. He likes the drop D and has the bridge flush on his. And also does fingerpicking in addition to rock.

Hey guys -- new member here. I just picked up a Luke for the very purpose of playing metal. I'm getting it setup right now with 12's so I can keep it tuned to D.

To be honest, I tend to play more vintage-style guitars, and I bought the Luke after trying it and a JP. I definitely liked the Luke neck better! Anyhow, the thing sounded so good I was tempted to just keep it as-is for normal every-day play, but I really *do* need a dedicated guitar for down-tuned stuff. I'll let you know how it turns out once it gets back from the setup!

Luke 1 has no tone pot?

Correct. No tone pot and EMG custom pickups.
Different to the current set which is an EMG-85 and EMG-SLV single coils.

To my ears, the original had more bite.. sonically, had a sharpe edge or two..
They rifined the whole guitar further into the current model, which is great.

Haha but i quite like that bite.. Love it actually.

Can't wait to get back there... even if the weather was crap haha
