...while preserving the auto-splitting switching? Are those stock Dimarzio's normal splits, or some special thing?

I've rewired many a single coil and humbucker, but never actually done any splittable buckers before.

welcome to the forum! when mine comes, depending on how i feel i may do the same. wiring guitars with coil splits and what not is easy, just look at how it was wired before you took the pickup out, maybe draw a diagram, and install your new pickup!
if you need existing diagrams, the seymour duncan website has every diagram i have ever needed

As mentioned ... it's not too difficult. Wire it up exactly as it was, but make sure you look out for a change in wiring colours.

If you're sticking with DiMarzio you're fine. If not, compare against a list of well known colour codes- you can find one here.
