It took me a while...
First it was the looks... until I replaced the blackice PG with an Abalone, this bass
was not standing out somehow, and then those curves start to grow on ya...
Then it was the electronics... God it took me so long to tame that beast...
Had trouble with the PUPs always wanting to touch the strings (I must be playing
very rough) got that fixed with a drop of loktite. Now they are always where they
belong and the sound is just a KILLER!

And being recently without a band, rather than pratice my old set over and over
again, I find myself experimenting a lot and noodling up & down the neck, I am
just realizing how that thing can fly! :D I find myself able to do things I never
thought I could do. Simply put, this bass makes me a better bassist, period!

Love your Bongo, and it will love you right back!

you knpw i've been waiting for a thread like this drop a thought: Has anyone ever noticed that the two pickup config with the bongo leaves a certain amount of lust for a bass with a central pick up position? I think it might be ex-fender players who suffer from this disease. I'm pretty sure that the precision pick-up placement is nearly perfect. Not especially variable but perfect. So here's what i suggest.....

i would like to order a new bongo with double humbuckers. But in between the two i would put a single coil that would ack with the first coil on the bridge pick-up to for a middle position humbucker. You could try and add another humbucker but i don't think it would fit. To control this i'd like a switch to turn the single coil on and off and then a pick-up selecter to toggle between the settings.

What'd you guys think? Big Poppa any thoughts? am i gonna have to wait until i'm a rich rock star to get it for free?

Whip out you router and go for it!:D
Myself, being an ex F*nd*r player, have no lust whatsoever for a pick up between the two that are already there. I do want a single pup Bongo, but that one should have the pick up in the famous MusicMan sweet spot.

The bongo is one awesome weapon for sure. I had an audition for a band last week, pulled out my Stealth from the case....the drummer was like "What the hell is that?"...I briefly told him....your best friend after tonight!

After one tune....he smiled....like this....:D ....and told me it was the best sounding bass he has ever heard.....the guitarist (very very talented) told me right on the spot...gig is yours....YAH for me!

Bongos are awesome. I know, I have jewerly too prove it! LOL

Actually, I think you're going to have to wait for Hell to freeze over.

The coils in the humbucker pickups of the Bongos can't be wired as single coils.

And, personally, I think it would look ridiculous.

But, you know, if it makes you happy....

On top of falling on the floor and drooling a lot,
I'd have to buy one of course! :) (especially since I've requestd it!)

Just think of it! The Silo has a pretty modern shape. Nice cuts, etc. The Stealth finish and H-S-H combination would be oh so awesome! :D

well i guess i'm willing to look rediculous in order to get the tones i like. Yeah, i guess the two of you that mentioned the single H are right, but man i'd love that bass with the central humbucker and front and back!!! Sort of the same principle behind the Gibson Black Beauty guitar. I've never actually seen a single H Bongo though. Its wasn't until i saw one here i even knew they existed. I think i may have to order one just to try it out! May be worth it.

The only thing that looks ridiculous about playing a Bongo H is that grin ya will have on your face the whole time your gigging it.

oops i wasn't saying that a single H looked rediculous i meant my three pick-up montrosity would be a little silly lookin. But i promise you this when i get big and famous Big P you're gonna want to make me this bass! haha J/k anyway can some of you send me larger pictures of your single H's I'd like to get and idea of what the placement is like. I'm thinking of just ordering one from GC. Does anyone know if you can get the 4-band eq and piezos in a single H 5?
