I'd like to know what types of rackmount units/processors apart from amps do you use or used in the past?

In my 8 space Anvil-type rack (simple but effective):

Top: Homemade bass hanger (about $3 in materials - I'll get a pic and post it if anybody wants - it beats the heck out of a floor stand)

Next: Furman Rack Rider Power Conditioner

Then: Korg DTR-2 Tuner

---One open space---

Bottom 4 spaces: Mesa Boogie 400+

:D

(Edited to show open spaces)

(Re-edited 'cause I was doing it from memory and forgot that Mesa 400+ is (4) rack spaces - Hey I'mm 44 - give me a break)

But now I just use my Sunn 1200S. That thing rocks.

Also I have a Peavey Sessionbass head that is really cool.

And an Ampeg B-50R, fifty earth shaking watts of vintage practice amp, heh heh.

I'll get a pic on Sunday at Church and post it. But here's a little heads up on how to do it: (Note that this works only when your bass stack is taller than your bass)

Materials:
• Single garage hook - heavy coated about 2" forks
• 2x4 about the inside depth of your rack + 2".
• (2) Industrial strength velcro strips about 2"x4"
• Black spray paint

Build it:
• Bevel each side of the 2x4 at 45 degree angles so there is about 1" flat front showing.
• Drill a hole in the center of the front face and screw the garage hook into it.
• Put one strip of velcro on the bottom front of the board and on the far left (or right) on top of your 2nd space rack item so they will interlock. (The hook should extend about 2-3 " beyond the front of your rack)
• Put the other strip of velcro on the top of the board towards the back and on the inside of the rack top far left (or right) side so they will interlock.
• Paint it with black spray paint.
• For transport, the bevels in the board allow you the space to pull the board off and turn sideways so it will fit in your rack closed.
• You will be amazed at how solid it is and how nice it is not to have a stand on the floor.
Have fun and let me know how yours turns out!:)

Good... It's quite interesting that most of you use a power conditioner. It might sound quite silly but, when it comes to buy a power conditioner I always say to myself "c'mon man, why spend this money for a rack that won't improve your sound?Go buy another compressor!!".
My rack changes quite often. Some times it is bling bling some times it is very simple and straightforward.

I use Gator Deluxe rack cases

The contents:

-1 Aphex 204 dynamics processor
-1 TLAudio FatMan Fat-1 Stereo tube compressor
-1 Trace Elliot(Pre-Gibson) Ah350x
-1 Avalon Design VT-737SP Channel Strip (sold it but I'll buy another one)
-1 Behringer md2600 Composer pro processor
-1 Behringer stereo EQ (sold it. I'm going for a cool new Alesis)

This pic shows my SWR SM400 as well as my "big gig" rack. I also run a Boss ME-50B floor mounted effects unit and a Samson Airline wireless.

I personally think it makes a huge difference in sound (power conditioner), obviously not like an actual signal processor, but in overal sound quality.

You've never gone to a club (ex: Jimmy Z's in Everett WA), and plugged in your stuff, no power conditioner, and gotten the bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz? all through the set?

you are a lucky man then, so many clubs have neon lights, dimmers, and all sorts of other stuff, that combined with the already dirty electricity, makes for some freakin noise.

having the quality power conditioner that I have, not only enables me to have all my cables neat and tidy (i've replaced them all with wee short ones!), but it keeps my signal pure and protects my expensive gear. Plus it has lights!

I did notice that almost all of them(sans mine), were "Rack Rider"s, why is that? im not sure the difference between the Plplus and the Rack Rider..
