To me, sound is what comes first. If you like how she sounds, you'll get used to the neck in no time. If it feels good on the get go, great, if not, it'll sort out.
Sound wise, you quite simply won't find a guitar like this in any other place. Every time I take a few days off of my JP and play my Jack$on or $checter, they feel good, I like them, but then you go back to the JP... And you have no idea why you ever put it down.
This guitar just blows me away everytime I play it. I don't think I'll ever be blown away like this with any other guitar. Well, maybe if I'll get an F1.

Well..the JP is not for everyone. My buddy is a smoking awesome player and he has some Tom Anderson guitars. He loves them. He played my JP and thought it was a tone monster and really complimented the guitar all the way around. The neck just did not "feel" good to him. However, he played my Axis and loved the neck as well as the tone.
This is a decision you have to make. I cannot convince you the JP is the one for you. However, you have to give it a chance. I love my JP and it is what "feels" right for me but I can pick up an AL and an Axis and still feel at home even with the neck shapes being different.

Yea I think i need to spend a bit more time playing them i just feel weird at the store because im close to their most expensive guitar. but will definately play them more they have a nice fully loaded JP7 in pearl redburst although if i got an old JP id go for mystic dream just because its a great guitar you migth as well spend the extra cash to get it the way you want right?
One thing im worried about is that if i really love the JPs as much as other people I dont want to have my other guitars feel unplayable after a ball
I noticed the neck wass Different from the get go and tried it for a short period of time between music stores but also after that i went back to ibanez for a bunch of hours
i did also notice that it took a few days to get used to my first ibanez so i think id be alright
And its not that im dissatisfied with my tone actually i get alot of "HOLY F*CKING SH*T THAT'S AN AMAZING TONE" its mainly the piezo option the feel of the bodyis so comfortable.
I am also a Firm beleiver in the "Go big or Go home" concept Which is why im considering these beast.
Another thing, yes I did bnotice the 7 string neck felt heaps better to me because i mainly play 7 strings
Also, Funny Story I was in a Music Store and picked up a JP and tryed to play TGP arps but couldnt because the feel was off then my Drummer said "Funny, you'd think that was made for those" jsut thoguht id share that
Thanks again, if i do Go JP now I gotta decide between F1 or Normal, i Guess ill wait till i hear more response From JP users and find one to play the things that turn me off is there is no more body scoop and the finish on the back but Looks like the nicest guitar in the world and JP did also say that himself

I like Pearl Redburst a lot. Also, remember, it's exclusive to the JP and it costs a whole lot less than the Mystic Dream. I think it's cool to have that color, because no other guitars come in Pearl Redburst.
After you really get used to the JP, you're not going to care about those other guitars. You're also going to get over not wanting to have your other guitars feel unplayable.

My main guitar in the 70s was a les paul. first 1/2 of 80s was sg/washburn. from mid 80s to late 90s was a guild brian may.
once the horse-trading began in the new internet era began, all bets we're off. I went through EVERY shape, brand and config. the DAY that my first JP6 was in my hand, it was if my wish list was COMPLETE. It felt like I designed it myself.
The one thing I did "force" myself to do was use .010-.046. I little heavier than I was used to, but now..... PERFECT.
short answer... about a week/30-40 hours of playing.

What i mean by getting used to is just the shape of the neck because its differnet from an ibanez its like just switching from a Gibson to an Ibanez its gonna feel different but after you get used to it you get a real feel of what its like
thats why if i could rent a JP guitar for 2 days or something
i figure thats the true test

Well, if you buy it, play it for a while, don't like it, well...I'm sure you can sell it without losing too much.

I hang my head in shame as i played a JP 7 for a good 2 hours today played for an hour almost stopped waled aronud a bit played it some more and then it jsut wasnt for me. I went back to an ibanez and it felt like home. all i can say is I tried. But one of my friends plans to get an axis sport or a sillouette. he wants a neck that feels like an axis but has 24 frets anyone got an idea?

The only 24 fret necks that EBMM makes are the JPs, the Silhouette, and the 20th Anniversary Silhouette. If he wants something else, he has to go elsewhere.

Did you read my earlier post, man? It ain't gonna happen in a 2-hour session. You may have to play the JP exclusively for a good while.. it took 2 weeks in my case.. before it feels like home. None of this switching back and forth.. after that, your Wizard II necks won't feel like home anymore. Plus, when you have your own JP you can do the oil and wax treatment on the neck and it will be lightning fast. I don't know what condition the neck might be for a guitar hanging on a store wall.. if the guitar isn't fresh out of the factory, it might need a little Birchwood Casey TLC.

Steve's right on the money, it usually takes a while before another guitar feels like "home".
That said, the neck isn't for everybody so maybe it just doesn't suit you. As for the 24 fretter ... I'd say you can't go wrong with the Silo. Great guitar and very easy neck.

The is lightning fast the shape isnt for me though trust me if it takes 2 weeks to get used to a guitar its not for me it took me a couple days tops for the ibanez but back then i only played an horu a day or so.
