Hey all,

I just finished sanding the neck of my SUB1!!! It's a project that I've been kicking around in my head for some time now. I was out driving around with my wife and I decided that if I could find the Oil and Wax that today was going to be the day. Well, I stopped by this gun shop/range here in Puyallup and viola! Both the Oil and Wax were right there side by side hanging from the pegboard of Birchwood/Casey stuff!

Anyway, after completing the sanding part, I applied light coats of the two and wiped off. It feels great, but the smell is killing me. Anyone have an Idea how long it'll last???

Thanks gang

be sure to apply in thin coats and wipe the excess... i've never had a problem with the smell lasting more than a few hours...

My first real, well-paying job took me to Miami in the mid-90s (I'm a California boy). My wife and I got married, moved in to a condo, and bought some natural maple Scandinavian wood furniture. The finish was Danish oil, which we applied on a regular basis.

My first real, well-paying job also meant my first nice guitar: an EBMM EVH. A phone call to EBMM, and a wonderful customer service person walked me through the care and feeding of my new Ball. (This was before stuff like that was on the internet, for all you young 'uns.) That was my first introduction to the Birchwood Casey products.

Anyway, that was a great period in my life, and the smell of the oil finish (on the furniture--we still own it, and on that and subsequent EBMMs) always brings back good memories from that period. Puts me in a good mood always.

Back on topic ... as mentioned, it will fade in a few hours or days, depending on how much you applied and how sensitive your nose is. Give it lots of ventilation, and in the future, apply it sparingly and wipe it off quickly.

I hope your SUB brings you lots of joy and creates memories as special as mine!

Look at it this way....... you could be driving a busload of migrant workers to the fields in the morning..... :D

I can't believe you destroyed a perfectly good painted neck. Sub-1 sacrilege! The Suboc will have to hold court and consider your worthiness...
