Hey everyone...I got a Burnt Apple SR5 as a graduation gift from my grandparents (yes I have nice grandparents!). It is my understanding that this is a rare and discontinued color...so I was just wondering if anyone knew roughly how many Burnt Apple SR5s were actually produced? Any info will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Well on Bass Central's website they have it posted as rare...and I know Ernie Ball only makes around 50 basses a day. The Burnt Apple SR5 I have is the only one I have ever seen (I haven't even seen an SR4 one in person)...I see pictures of them on the web occasionally, but nothing in person. So I was just curious...if it really isn't that rare then that's cool, I was just looking for possible production numbers if perhaps someone at Ernie Ball had information like that on record?

I don't know about general figures (about the production), but I have a friend in Tehran, Iran, who has a StingRay 5 in burnt apple. Actually, it's a left hand model. He's the only one in Iran who actually has a MusicMan, and then he happens to have such a special (yes discontinued) finish.

Burnt Apple is a nice color but not the easiest
Finish to paint. The numbers were good when we first offered it but over time they declined
and we discontinued it 9-12 months ago. It was fairly popular on 4's and 5's and while not abundant it is not extremly rare either. Unfortunatley we do not have any access to SR5's # produced.

Thanks

Hey donna, I've never seen a burnt apple Sterling, you have to post a pic one day.
I love that burnt apple finish. If I dodn't already have 2 SR5s, I would have ordered one in burnt apple when they were available.

hey bassmaniac,

wow! 2 sr5's.

yeah that burnt apple is a pretty cool finish. what's really cool in my case is that i can pretty much wear whatever i choose as it goes with just about everything.

my sterling belonged to a member of the fender forum and she had boughten it new about 5 mos. ago. the more that i play it and marvel at it, the more i know that i made a good move.

my basses have all been pre owned except for an '01 hrpb, which i got from mf when they were blowing them out.

if i could ever figure out how to post a pic, i'd be more than happy to post a pic of it.

be readin' you all later,

~donna~

hi hofbrauhaus,

i hope that ya don't feel that i honed in on your thread. if ya feel that i did, please forgive me. i surely didn't mean to or want to.

when ya get my age, you'll understand how and why i get so windy :D

i just wanted to let ya know that there were some burnt apples out there and that i had a sterling with that finish.

also, i had some problems keeping mine from smearing up and smudging alot. i posted a thread about this and a couple of the guys came up with some good solutions. if ya get time or want to, you outa check it out.

well take care,

~donna~

I remember that Sterling, Donna! (I've been known to troll through the FDP, too.)

I was stunned that she didn't like it. These are such fine basses. I still have my Black Sparkle Sterling, which always matches my outfits and also my Black Sparkle Stingray!

hi bovinehost,

lol! yeah, i used to hang around alot at the fender forum, but i've gotten most of my questions answered and didn't want to be a bother to anyone, so i just kinda check it out every now 'n' then. i'm also back to work now and i don't really have the time to do much of anything.

i think that you have replied to some of my threads before. definitely a small world. lol!

your mm's sound gorgeous! all i can say is wow!!

i couldn't beleive that she didn't like her sterling, either. that thread that she had about buying something that she thought she luv'd, really shocked me.

we have e mailed each other and when i found out that she had it for sale, i went to my local music store and tried one out, unplugged. they are pretty sharp at that store. they always have the necks adjusted so that they play nice. anyway, i fell in luv with a sterling and knew that i had to have one.

when the sterling arrived, it was a little hard to play. so i got on the forum here and the guys told me what to do.--thanx much, everyone!:)

anyway, i put the ti flats on it that chris brusa gave to me and put a quick set up on it--and wow!

well anyway, it's good to hear from ya.

be readin' ya later,

~donna~
