Bagged cereals what do you want that Im not offering? Let me know and Ill be happy to place an order for you today if it is reasonable. Is this an argument for the sake of an argument...Is there something I took away from you?

If this is an offer, I'll straight up take it 100% and give you my credit card/paypal/e transfer/whatever payment you need today.

For setup, I would take a Sterling 4H with Stealth hardware/ebony neck. This is already a standard MM option, but if not, I would take the regular hardware with a rosewood neck (but would be just pumped if I could get the stealth options).

For the body/headstock finish, I would love the original dargie green, but you guys probably don't have that around any more. If not that, then it would be cool to get the green from the arctic dream done in the balboa burst flame style. I prefer the lighter green closer to the olive instead of the more forest green of the arctic style, but if we can make this happen, let's do it. Or if you guys have any other greens around that could be done in some sort of burst/flame type of style. If this is not reasonable, just the solid green from the arctic dream would be great. Or, if just doing the green isn't workable, the arctic dream finish would still be awesome!

I'm 100% serious about buying this and am not just trying to jerk you around in the forums. I'm very passionate about EBMM instruments and would be absolutely ecstatic to make something like this happen!

I think the offer was to baggedcereals and implied spraying a current model with a color from another model. Like a hazelburst axis, a balboa blue Cutlass or even a sunburst cutlass with a maple neck. Something "reasonable" not something "custom shop".

Though I do have some custom Frankenstein-Balls that I would love to order. Guess I better get busy getting famous!

That's what I'm asking for in my request though. The offer was to baggedcereal, but if you look in this thread and my post history I've been talking about just wanting colour options that already exist on other, current EBMM models to be applied to a Sterling 4H. I'm not asking for fluorescent green with a wenge neck and rocket-ship fret inlays.

There's nothing (besides the Dargie colour ask), that they don't already have in the shop. I also said that the Dargie colour probably won't happen, but I would be happy with other colours that are in the shop. The Sterling 4H Stealth exists as standard, I'm just asking for it to be painted with the green/arctic dream finish that they already have for the Majesty, instead of just going black. If I could get it done with just the green and in a flamed finish, I'd be pumped, but I would be more than happy with the regular arctic dream.

that is a custom guitar and If you love us please re read this and understand why I cant do it.

I said if there was a color that bagged really needed...one of the existing colors....its also my way of saying, "Im not making you happy, I don't know if you really have a dog in this fight so the only way to find out is ask for the order" This way we either make him happy and get him the color he wanted or discover if it's just an internet argument. If this was just arguing for the sake of arguing after all the explanations from me you will see why other company owners stay away from their forums.

Hey BP,

Thanks for the response.

I think my order idea might have been worded a bit clumsily, but, if you're willing, I would order a Sterling 4H Stealth painted with the Arctic Dream finish. The Stealth hardware/fret/neck is a standard item on Sterlings and the Arctic Dream is a standard item for the Majesty. If not Arctic Dream, I'd be into the Balboa Blueburst Flame from the Armada.

Honestly, if you are serious about it, I can try and simplify it more. I'm trying to get it down to just an existing colour on an existing bass (that doesn't come in that colour). I think the order as I said above would just be taking a Sterling and spraying it with Arctic Dream/dipping it in the Blueburst.

I definitely know and appreciate where you're coming from with refining the options to dealers, and I am definitely happy that you guys have been able to be on your toes and react accordingly to the way the market needs. But again, if there is a way I can get a Sterling painted in one of the existing colours that's available on your guitars, I am down 100%

Hey Sterling - I love you, man (in a platonic man-hug kind of way) - does that count? :)

Maybe make the next PDN run be called Mystic-Dream-A-Palooza?! :D

1. Carvin has no distribution network...they sell direct and are able to get more money per guitar.
2. Where are the willing paying customers? Most colors we discontinued per model sold less than 5 a year. If people want a color and there is demand that fits ...we would be crazy to not offer it...Notice we didnt discontinue black?
3. How many ways can I explain that it is not just production but our distribution network and lack of focus on our brand? Once again we have tons of models Pete tried to explain from a dealers perspective how a jp6 can me made 480 different ways...and its still not enough.
Limiting the color options to something manageable allowed us to lower the street price to $1,499 on the Sting Ray and Cutlass and make it easier for the dealer to have the desired product. As a result they have been smashing successes

Thanks for the reply and offer big poppa! I am not trying to start s war or insult you personally or the company as a whole. And definitely not arguing just for the sake of it.

All I was wondering is you have body's ready to go for the Luke, axis, jp, or what have you...and you already have the color options you choose to keep in stock. What's wrong with spraying it lets say barlo purple on a silhouette special? Or the tangerine orange on a Luke body.

The paying customer is the ones who straight up ask for it. I am not talking about the ones you had to discontinue due to nobody ordered them.

I have seen some awesome silhouette in the used market that were made for lesser known "artist" that had older discontinued colors and roasted flame maple necks.

Sorry to sound blunt or come off as a jerk.

I think BP already answered this. If there is demand he will build it, but it has to be worth the effort from a cost perspective. A $300-500 upcharge isn't worth it (to cover overhead/payroll/etc) if only a handful of guys are gonna request it let alone pay for it. By simply offering this as an option it would hurt his distribution chain by drowning them with options. At least that's how I understand his explanation

Artists on the other hand can be justified due to exposure. How many of us would know who Dean Wells was if not for this forum, but he gets exposure in Australia so it's worth BP and co making him a few custom guitars

To clarify, I'm NOT saying Dean isn't a good player or deserving... Just that I would have never given his band a listen if it weren't for this board. I'm sure that people are giving EBMM a try because of Dean. Personally, I had no clue who EBMM was before EVH and I am sure that JP, Luke, AL, St V, etc have had the same effect on other people as EVH did for me. IMHO that's why artists are worth the investment of a special color or tweak to an instrument to suit their needs. Exposure.

Also, I would have never given Albert Lee's music a chance if I hadn't met him at NAMM around 2000 and known that he was an EBMM Signature Artist. The HHAL is my 2nd AL guitar... To this day my Honeyburst regular AL is still one of the only guitars I regret selling. Maybe a Pinkburst is in my future...
