BM's rarely show up here. I think they're pretty cool, though I've never actually played one. I think the HB is different than what's in the Silo Special HSS. My guess is the US made BM pushes sales of the OLP BM.

well I was thinking of getting one and wondering if anyone else had one. I have been wanting one for awhile now but haven't got it yet. I got my sub 1 first but am planning on test driving the BM when I get a chance...

I have little clue who Benji Madden is, but if I liked the guitar, I'd get one. I hear it comes with a dozen piercings and a few stick-on tatts as case candy.

Hey, if it's your thing, go for it! Then post the pics here. :D

edit: I think the BM is basically a Silo Special with one HB. I can say, as would very many others, the Silo is a fine guitar.

well Benji Madden is one of the guitarists of Good Charlotte.... And I think that you are right about it being a silo with just one HB...

I don't believe any forumites here have one.
At least never admitted it.
I think they're cool.

I like the color (Madden green)and the maple fretboard myself. Is the neck and fretboard profile the same as a Silo special? Is the OLP BM discontinued?

Benji was playing a Silhouette before he became famous and introduced something different to that age group other than brand F & g. That band has been very successful

I think that's the key right there. Why a BM? Smart marketing toward a present and future generation. It's not as though an entire guitar line has to me made from scratch, like the other signature models.

It wasn't one of the popular models, or wasn't really talked about much.

They might be a collectors item one day. Who knows.

It's kinda sad that Benji hasn't received the warmth and happiness that this forum has to offer. He appeals to a lot of young guitarists out there and I am speaking with the knowledge that having two young sons brings.

Benji Madden has played an EB and brought it to the attention of the public for many years now - and thatdedication to a brand, you all have to admit as EB lovers, is a good thing? I mean I'd love to see the AL being touted by more "gunslingers" out there -still this isn't about the AL, so back to BM.

Like his playing or not, we shouldn't disrespect the service he gives for EB. - hell he could be out there playing a reliced Frakengibstratsoncaster.

Guitarpunk, go for it man and I'll welcome you with open arms (in a manly kinda way of course ;)) and you can become the forum expert on the BM guitar. Go spread the word!!

Great Post Spud!!!

Maybe Benji Madden can't play like JP or AL, but so what? David Gilmour can't play like JP or SL, does that automatically make him a bad player?

BP made the decision to give Benji a sig model and to my mind it was a good one. It increased the exposure that EBMM had and even if that particular model wasn't the greatest seller, I can't see it being detrimental to the line.

Love or hate Fender or Gibson, the fact is that they have massive exposure in almost every genre of playing. For EBMM to push forwards into the markets, they've got to be seen in the hands of prominent bands in that field.

I really don't think that it's fair to refer to him as a horrible guitar player. You might not like the music that he plays or writes, but what measure can you put on his playing? Technical proficiency doesn't make for everything, it is all subjective. What one person thinks is the most fantastic guitar song ever will leave someone else completely cold. The fact is that, like them or not, they are a pretty successful band, so there are obviously a few people who want to listen to them.

I think NorM ha(s/d) a Benji at one time. There was also one up on e-bay the other week, but they don't come up that often.

I would be careful to slag any player. I would also like any of you that are so judgemental to get up infromt of 50k and see how good you are.

There is zero room for disrespecting musicians here...ours or others.

Maybe Benji isnt your thing but you have to really rethink your narrow minded judgemental pompous attacks on another musician that has sold maybe 40 million more cds than you.

THe market determined the validity of Benji's guitar and it required zero investment on our end and we rewarded a player that had the balls to play somethiing different and give us international exposure that exceeds some of our virtuosos.
