Hi,

I love the sound of the MM-90s and really want an ash, thru-tail body. I've heard that the AL has a really great neck- quite similar to the old EVH models. So how does the neck shape of the Axis Sport compare?

Cheers

Unfortunately, we are no longer offering the Axis Sport model with the Ash Body.

However the Axis Super Sport with the Basswood body's Scale length is 25 1/2" and has a Radius of 10". Lastly ~ 22 Frets

In comparison - The Albert Lee is made from an ash body and has the exact same scale and radius on the neck. However the Albert Lee model can only be purchased with a Maple fretboard...

I think the neck on my Axis Sport (or any of my Axi, for that matter) is very much like the neck on my Albert Lee, and it's very comfortable switching between the two. The Sport's neck has a slightly different back carve - there's a slightly off-center "V" shape to it, where the Lee's neck is more evenly rounded - but both are fantastic necks and I'm sure most guitarists would be perfectly happy with either... I grabbed my Ash-bodied Sport shortly after they were discontinued and I'm glad I did - it's a great guitar!

Butch,

That is an Axis guitar...not just neck. The A.L. model was originally called "Axis".

Ya, but the original AL (as owned by Albert) predates the EVH/Axis by a number of years, so...

You're saying that the original Albert Lee sig guitar presented to Albert by Sterling was dubbed an Axis? And so when they needed to rename the EVH after Eddie's defection, they just recycled the name, since what was originally to be the Axis had become the Albert Lee? Pretty cool bit of trivia... Can any of the Mods confirm this?
