We have this Bass at my shop, it's a 1989 StingRay 5 in Trans Red, Black Pickguard, Fretless(Pau Ferro), WITHOUT Case(Lame). I'm having trouble trying to figure out how much it's worth. According to the Serial Number, it's between Feb. and March 1989, and in fairly good condition with some typical wear and two small finish gouges on the back.

This is NOT meant to be an ad, though I wouldn't mind giving a Forum Member a good deal on it, I'm just wondering if I'm high balling this or not at $1299.

These guys - well, I guess I should include myself here - are all acutely aware of used prices in general, but without getting a look at it, who knows?

SR5s regularly go for 850-950 on eBay and between internet sluts so MY take, FWIW, is that you're a little high. Especially with a fretless - there are a lot fewer fretless players than there are, um, you know, normal people.

That's all just opinion, mind you.

FWIW, there's a 1990 SR5 fretted bass with its original case in excellent condition available at a popular online guitar store. It too is Trans Red with a Black pickguard and Rosewood fretboard. The asking price for it is $995.00 and that is negotiable.

For some reason this bass has been available for quite some time, I don't know why. But I'd have to agree with Jack's comment above that your asking price at $1299.00 is high.

Thanks Guys. I put it at $969, which is also negotiable. Sucks it doesn't have a Hardshell.

I love Trans Red and I'd love to have a SR Fretless, unfortunately I can't make it happen financially right now or I would negotiate. Hope it finds a good home.
