How much is she worth?

I need money for an upright. How much do you think my beautiful Stingray could get me? Honeyburst body, rosewood fretboard, white guard, 3-EQ. The neck and headstock have a really groovy pattern, both in the grain and the "flame," though it may be too subtle to consider flamed maple.

She's been my main axe for a couple years, but she's in really really fabulous shape. I don't think you'd even be able to tell she's used, except for the fretboard gunk, which I will of course clean up, and a couple very minor surface scratches on the back of the neck, which I'm going to try to get out.

I've never sold a guitar before. Anybody have any suggestions? Much thanks!

Great looking axe BTW. Does the little star/flag Air Force logo thingie come off? If not you may want to get a replacement pickguard and sell the bass with both pickguards. It would sell easier IMO.
Music Man basses seem to hold their value very well. Search on ebay for Music Man under bass guitars. Check both Active Items and especially Completed items - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the prices. I bought a 1992 black MMSR5 fretless w/o case for $850.00 and thought I got a really good deal.

Wow. That's a beauty!

Sell it on eBay. You'll probably get something around 700-1000 for it. However, I hardly think that's enough for a good upright, no?

Are you sure you wanna switch to upright? I know the upright has a distinct sound that's hard to imitate, but giving up a SR is a risky move!

If it's in good shape, expect 800 or 850 on eBay.

Aw thanks, y'all. The "sticker" is off; it was simply taped on. I'm hoping I can pull at least $800, as the upright I want is a little more than $1000. It's a student bass. Nothing fancy. I'll continue to play electric bass, just not one as nice as my Stringray. I'm getting one of those new Ibanez Artcore basses to try out, and I've got a Fender P to fall back on in case that blows.

I was takin' more pictures of it tonight and I'm gettin' kinda sad. I am gonna miss it.

I don't know how set you are on the upright you've chosen, but I just saw in the new Bass Player mag that Dean will be making an affordable upright. Looks pretty cool and around a grand.

Way to go with getting an upright!!! Look for a nice used Engelhardt plywood bass, they usually always sell for around $1000-$1200 , they're good solid work horses and are really versatile.Good for jazz and even somewhat bearable in a classical setting.

if you sell on ebay consider setting a reserve price and make it high enough to cover the big fat sellers fee you will be paying ebay.and I am not knocking ebay I do a lot of business there, consider selling through an ad paper(Thrifity Nickel, etc.) some are nation wide and on the net.

Oh, I have been gone far too long.

I am in fact getting a used Engelhardt. And it doesn't even look like I'll have to sell the Stingray, so hooray! I'll likely just be foolin' around on it.

That Dean EUB is a lot like what I've been imagining for a while: a slab of wood with some tuners, a bridge, and a pickup. Simple and cheap. But I'm really lookin' for an acoustic instrument, so I'll have to pass for now.

I'll be playing noise to myself in a place where nobody can hear me. Maybe I'll bring over a drummer and a keyboard player. Depends what I can learn, I guess. Should be exciting.
