Question How much neck movement is normal?

Today was the Maiden Voyage of my new bass , it's a 2010 SR4 HH . Our rehearsal room was at a comfortable temp so we didn't use the A/C today,by the time our rehearsal was over approx. 3-1/2 hours later the room temp. had raised quite a bit. During our last two sets I noticed that my action had changed quite a bit ,compared to where it was at the start of the day's rehearsal. How much movement is normal? I know it's a piece of cake to adjust and correct,but my question is , have others had noticeable neck /truss movement take place as a gig or rehearsal takes place?

Depending on temperatur and humidity change ("quite a bit"), I've experienced noticeable neck movements on my basses (regarless of brand, model and finish) as well.

Compared your new HH, how did your previous 'Ray behave in that environment?

The 2000 Purple pearl SR4H was a bit high when I got it but I made an adjustment right away, that bass I owned for a little over two weeks so it never really seen much action as our band has been between singers as of late. I sold that bass Saturday afternoon and the neck was still where I left it. I never had a chance to put it through a rehearsal in our studio when temps changed from cool to somewhat warm. I'm sure other brands makes and models are affected but I was just curious as to what degree.
I will check the SR4 HH tomorrow to see where she sits, the sound was very good during rehearsal but when the action went South it kinda threw me. My favorite pickup position was three ,or right in the middle. with all the coils fired up it sounded so full, I'm liking it very much ,for now.

I have a Bongo5. The neck movement is there and noticable. Usually when I first pick it up I notice it.
The tuner tells me it has either moved one way or the other. The only time I make any neck adjustment though is usually when the weather goes from fall to winter or spring to summer.
I find that the movement the rest of the time between is only slight. Like I said the tuner tells me how much and which way it moves.
I also find that once the bass is warmed up from playing it settles..
This is just my obsevations from my part of the country very hot and humid in summer, cold &dry in winter but sometimes damp.
At a gig I try to let the bass stand out of the case for a while before playing it just to let it adjust to the climat of the room it is in.

I've been reading up that the roasted necks are an improvement , pricey but they sure look sweet. can any roasted owners chime in?

I concur. Especially with humidity changes. Seems to me that when the humidity goes up, my instrument goes sharp and when it goes down, my instrument goes flat. Small changes in humidity can be dealt with via tuning. Large changes need truss rod adjustments.

I just picked up a Stingray 4HH BFR with a FULL roasted neck. Everything i see online has either a rosewood or ebony fretboard. Has anyone seen a Full Roasted or does anyone own one? How many were made?

same here..........but,these damn basses aren't too far off in climate change here,usually flat,and by only a hair......all year long..........(being in almost a rainforest is the ticket i guess)

no neck movement really,all dealt with via tuners.

and that's both of my Musicman basses.......

thanks guys, I thought I was trippin'' still curious about how stable the roasted necks are. I just picked up another bass today, I'm going to put it through a few rehearsal sessions and find out how stable the neck is. I really gotta figure out soon which bass will be my keeper.
