Im getting ready to go down to Guitar Center next weekend to order a Left Hand MM Sterling in white, (white or black) pickguard. I was wondering what the difference in sound between a rosewood and maple fretboard were.....and how much of a difference it is. Also i was wondering if anyone had any idea of what the grand total of this beast is going to run me. Thanks a ton!

Maple fretboards would probably yield a brighter/snappier tone since it's a denser wood. I don't know how much difference it will make though.

This is true, given the exact same body, but I think solid colors for the EB/MM basses may be alder, while transparents are ash...and this can make a significant tonal difference.

Yeah, body wood probably has a lot more impact on tone than fretboard material. Regardless, the neck is mostly maple to begin with.

Lefty - you can of course happily buy from Guitar Center but we have a couple of dealers here on the board who can get you that bass, too - just in case you decide to support a forum member!

I hereby shamelessly declare that I am the EBMM sale guy for Vintage Bass Trading Company and would also be glad to order that bass for you.

Shoot me a PM and let me know if you're interested. I am a rather fabulous person to deal with, although so are the other guys (Pete and Doug and I might be overlooking someone here, forgive me).

Yeah, but you'd order from me because if you didn't, I'd break into your brother's car and steal his iPod.

And his smokes!
