Wait, I stand corrected on one thing. My guitarist just told me that the high E string does not touch the wood, but actually sits so low that it buzzes on the 1st fret. With distortion it is not noticeable, but it is impossible to play any open chords on that string in clean with out buzzing. Yes a proper set up has been performed on the guitar, and yes he has contacted CS about the issue. And also no, their is nothing that can be done through Ernie Ball about it since he is not the original buyer, even thought the guitar's born on date is September of last year. I just wanted to clear that up since I made a false statement earlier. I'm sure some kid at GC carved out a chunk of that nut though, with the screw driver he pulled out to steal some screws, and stuck them in the same pocket as he did those batteries.

Oh and one last thing on a different note
you have no idea how a modern production facility works
I worked as a Lead Supervisor for Hill-Rom, the nations leader in hospital beds and medical equipment. It would honestly scare the hell out of you if you knew how much actually does go out without being checked. Case example, a pair of scissors used to cut fabric was found in a Versacare bed that worked off inflatable tubes inside of it. They were found when the tubes were inflated causing the scissors to poke upwards, and stabbing the patient in the lower back. You sir, obviously have no Idea how a modern production facility works, if you did, you would know that mistakes are made, and that is what Quality Assurance teams are there for. If you believe otherwise, I sure would like to know what color the sky is in your hometown.

Ummmm...I waited 4 months for my bass which came directly to me. Who stole them UPS???

Hardly anyone besides artists deal directly with EBMM for purchases. There was a retailer involved, one who took possession of the bass before it went to you. That's how it works.

But this is getting out of hand.

Control it, folks, or I'll close my 2nd thread of the day.

Thanks.

Ummmm...I waited 4 months for my bass which came directly to me. Who stole them UPS??? GET REAL PEOPLE!!! Look I'm not bashing EBMM for any mistakes, I am quite happy with my bass, my strings and all the other Ernie Ball products that I constantly use, but to sit here and say that they do not make any mistakes is just mind blowing. EVERY company that produces a product makes mistakes. It is why we say we are only human. My guitarist has a JP6 that on the nut at his high end E string, it's cut so low the string touches the fretboard and buzzes. Unfortunately for him, he bought it from the first buyer and there is no transferable warranty so he deals with it. Did someone steal some of the nut??? Does he complain, no, the JP6 model is the only model he will play, he owns several of them, and he chalks it up to human error. I can guarantee you EB makes mistakes, as does every other guitar manufacture in America, but as far as I can tell, they make very few mistakes and that's one of the reasons I use their basses, and my guitarist use their guitars. If their were serious flaws in the instruments, such as flaws in the finish, missing bolts in the neck, sloppy fret work, or any thing of that nature, I could understand complaining, but to bicker about simple things as batteries and screws is retarded. And as far as that comment about how could a bass get threw set up with out a battery, how could a guitar get through set up with the high end string touching the fretboard???

A few things.

1) No one is saying that EBMM is perfect but you were saying that it was MORE LIKELY that EBMM forgot the battery or your screws than for someone at GC to steal them.

2) Your bass did not come direct from EBMM, no matter what you think, it had to arrive at your dealer first.

3) It's not fair to compare your former employer to a company you've never been to. Surely, not all companies are alike.

Here is my two cents worth.

Blood if you want to win an argument that was silly...then you win.

I am the first one to say that we make mistakes. When we do we own up to them and try very hard to make it right.

The problem here is that you have gone off on a rant when Guitar Center will be the first to tell you that customers mistreat instruments and...yes they steal batteries, knobs, and trem arms. Was it possible that we left all the batteries out of the basses...yes...do I think we did....no. That was the point.

We ship to guitar centers distribution center in shipments of either 140 or 240 at a time. What are the odds that randomly the ones we forgot only got shipped to one store.

On the subject of your guitarist. Somehow his e string nut is low. Could we have shipped it that way? Yes. Could the first owner have filed it too low? Maybe. Could a tech have done it? Yes. As you know from your experience we have to draw the line with warranty and we exceed that line on a daily basis.

Lets all calm down and try not to go off on a rant that is just basically a hijack to a thread dealing with instruments in poor shape at a Guitar Center

Yea it's still here, my company services their AC and refrigeration (if your talking about the one on East Bay St). There are some really good restaurants down here and some great attractions. Charleston's a great place to visit, but a greater place when all the tourist go home lol.

Make sure you put all the screws back in after you finish servicing those AC units.

I'll put the ones that were in it when I got there back in it. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but most of them seem to be missing a lot of scews lol. Any takers on where they went to?

Maybe someone took them to finish fastening their pickguard to their bass. :D

BTW, BP's comment has me laughing so hard right now....

OMG People get a life, little teenagers go into Center and steal this stuff just to be funny, Just the thrill that they got a knob or a battery, All Music Man Basses leave the factory with strings, the get plugged in and tuned, if there's no Battery there's no sound, they'd realize maybe a battery problem or a bad connection. It's a problem with stores that attract kids, ask Walmart if they're missing parts off bicycles, I see it all the time walking through.

I like to go down to my local GC some times and ask for the polish cloth and just shine em up and tune them. Once I even made the slightest adjustment to a neck. Also I found a bongo with no batteries so I stepped next door to the hardware store and bought a couple. Just a fun way to spend some time.

That sounds like a new way of giving back to your community, sort of like the bass tech equivalent of volunteering in a soup kitchen. :D

NorM, thanks for being so generous with your efforts to clean up EB basses at our stores. I think we owe you some batteries!

Blood, you bring up a great point about parts and batteries missing on our gear. Everyday tens-of-thousands of musicians and hobbyists come in to GC's and want to try all kinds of gear. Unfortunately some folks hurt the gear by taking parts or scratching it up and with 214 stores and thousands of employees, some employees do not always do the right thing either. In this case, we've contacted the entire store management team from the top-down about this instance and have been assured high standards will be met. We're all musicians too and we want the gear clean and ready to play at all times. Thanks for listening.
