How often do you cats wax/oil the neck?

I thought it was bad for the neck to take off all the strings. So I assume it's okay for short periods for cleaning?

There's nothing wrong with taking off the strings.

If you're going to store a neck for extended periods, loosen the truss rod so there's no tension. Otherwise, don't worry.

Usually about every time I change strings, so about once a month. I'll do it before I change to the new strings, so that the new strings aren't affected.
