OK. This is amp related concerning my bass rig.
My current bassist is using my rig at practice. No big deal to me as he uses a bongo and life is good.
We took a day to re-arrange our gear set up to optimize sound and room. No big deal. I simply put the cover on my rack and rolled it out the room along with my cab. Easy eh? So far, so good.
We set up the gear where we want. I decide to go ahead and get the rack opened up and plug in what needs to be plugged in. I left the chord from the bass to the amp unplugged as our bassist was not there that day. So far, so good.
Well, I get to practice early after a very very bad work day. I am aggravated and just wanted to play some bass to ease my mind. I figured what better way to cool off than to throw down some bass runs and some practice.
I turn on the power and turn on the amp after plugging in. No sound. Hmmmm....maybe I forgot to plug in the speaker cable...simple fix. I check and it is plugged in. OK. Volume down by chance? Nope. She is good. Amp is on I see by the glowing beautiful blue light of my GK. Now, being in a bad mood...I was like WTF? I decided to just shut everything off and let it be. I told my bass player something is wrong so use the stand by amp. He did without any problems.
So, next practice I come in. I am in a great mood and decided since I am now of sound mind I can see what the problem may be. (Note - the below is all in a rack mount - I use no pedals)
Turned on the power strip to the rack - Check, red light on and glowing.
My EQ is on
My Limiter/Compressor is on. Funny though, the LED's are pegged. Not a good sign.
Amp is on - that sexy blue light is lit.
Still....no sound.
Hey...wtf is that red light on over there to the left on the GK? I look closer. I did not notice the light before because I never used that button before. It was the Tuner/Mute button!!!! I click it and WHAM - thunderous bongo mayhem erupts! I am now officially the joke of the band for that day!
Just thought I would share with you peeps. Any funny gear/guitar/bass related stories out there to share? I won't laugh.....too hard.
