I used a folded up piece of cardboard, worked very well. That was 4 layers thick, it needs to be fairly solid.

Just one thing, like Grifff posted below you, he said that he didn't make it thick enough so he still had to take off the back plate. Don't you need to take off the back plate even though you have the bridge fully supported? Where else does the strings come out?

Sorry if it's a stupid question, don't have the guitar here atm so I can't check. It's probably somewhere obvious.. xD

There are holes for the strings in the back plate, so you don't need to take it off when you want to change the strings.
