I have a '97 stingray 4 string bass with all maple neck. The factory removes
the lacquer on the fingerboard and the back of the neck for faster movement.
My sweaty hands made my neck look like an old pencil, dark and dirty, not SRV cool looking but grubby..anyway, I would like to purchase a new neck.
either without the lacquer removed or stock. does anyone know who I can contact for this? thanks

I don't think they remove the lacquer...they simply don't put it on, so it would not be possible to get one with lacquer. You could contact CS. They may be able to help you, but you would have to ship the original back to the factory.

I can go to a store and see musicman stuff with dirty dingy necks hanging right on the wall. Maybe they should clean them once in a while too.

I've read the FAQ, but I'm one of those guys BP's referring to when he says bass players and tools are not a good mix. Is there a video that covers maple fingerboards? I've got a Sterling that could use a touch up.
