Hey guys,

I have a quick question concerning the removal of the volume know on my JP6. The piezo pot is sorta loose and I really hate having that on my guitars so I thought I'd quickly pull off the volume knob and tighten the grommet. Oh boy, how wrong was I. After about 3 minutes of intense tugging and careful prying(don't want that finish scratched :D) my instincts told me to stop and ask you guys.
Yes I did check the FAQs to no avail and this thing is simply the nastiest knob that I have ever come across.

So any tips guys?

Thanks,
Vb

Push the knob grip down towards the body (be careful not to scratch the finish). The set screw for the knob will be exposed. Loosen the set screw, remove the knob, then remove the grommet.

Thanks, though may I mention that the explanation on the FAQ is not too descriptive, I just received a PM from a very helpful user and it works like a charm. :)

Would you mind posting it in this thread? That way in the future the search function can be used for new users to find this. Also, we can look at our FAQ and edit it to make it more user friendly. We are always open to suggestions!

Yeah sure Aziah, actually it was WilyD, here is his explanation:

"You will need to carefully remove the rubber grip to expose the 5/64" hex knob set screw. Don't use your fingernail as the grip can tear. Gently try to stretch it then work it off."

hope that helped :)

Hey guys, Even though this is an old thread, it's still handy. I minimized the risk of tearing the rubber grip on my JP-6 by using a soft guitar pick. Before pushing the rubber sleeve down to expose the 5/64 set screw, just go around the whole knob slowly and the grip will comply.

Hello, I have an Axis and the volume knob is too close to the body, actually it rubs slightly as it is not exactly perpendicular to the shaft on the pot. I am assuming I can just move the knob a little further out from the body. I tried but it is really tight. Is there a set screw holding on the knob or is it just a press fit?
Thanks
Kev
